i have sold some FIFA coins, a electronic item, today for $148. the buyer has sent me paypal directly. ie. not ebay.
i was charged a fee of $5 something, so i know it was normal paypal.
now heres the good bit. within minutes, they have put in a paypal dispute claiming that their account has been used un-authorized to send the money.
its pretty clear what has happened. they have sent the money, recieved the coins, then put in a claim straight away.
i have their address via paypal.
i rang paypal to see what the go was, and they said that there was no seller protection as the deal wasnt done through ebay, and that i didnt sell a physical item.
i thought there was still seller protection through regular paypal sales.
what to do?
if i were to send an empty package to the address, to get a tracking number to upload to paypal, would i be covered?
i asked paypal this and they still said no, because there is no seller protection. not sure why there wouldnt be? they dont know i didnt sell a physical item.
just need some thoughts and ideas guys. really dont wanna have to wear the loss here.
Hey mate...... think you will get the last laugh here. As Paypal said, they don't offer buyer protection on non-pyshical items, so as long as paypal know that then the buyers claim should be denied. Although not 100% sure if this is still the case when they say their "account has been used un-authorized to send the money".
i know his ebay ID as, thats what he used to contact me in the first place. gunah see what paypal say this week and go from there.
i have lost any money, nor anything physical, eg. cards etc. just virtual stuff that i had.
just annoying that paypal just wipe their hands of it pretty much.
Unfortunately if the transaction was done on ebay you should have denied/refunded his direct payment and told him to do it through the proper process. I think you're SOL but I'm sure this isn't an unusual thing... this is why some people refuse to email redemption codes and insist on sending the card - because of greedy/cheating/thieving AHoles like this guy.
its a bit different because its not a 'item not recieved' case. its a 'someone else used my account to pay' case.
im still thinking i should post him package to get a tracking number to upload that to paypal saying ive already posted the 'item'.
but i dont wanna spend the extra $20 to get a tracking number to post if im gunah lose the $148 anyways.
