Is your Postie this bad?

OK it probably isn't the postie because it's a parcel being delivered so it is probably the Contracted Parcel Deliverer!

Anyways what happened was I walked out the front to check the mail (I have been home all day) and on the way back I noticed my front door mat had something underneath it. I knew it would be a parcel as I was expecting a new fotel remote so I lifted the mat up and to my surprise there was not only my foxtel remote (normal parcel) but there was a REGISTERED POST PARCEL there too!

The thing is I have been home ALL DAY and not had a knock on the door or the doorbell rung! The fact that a REGISTERED POST parcel had been left on my front door WITHOUT SIGNATURE annoyed me so I rang Australia Post to make a complaint.........have a guess what they told me? Apparently it HAD been signed for - WTF ???

Anyway I know no-one from my house signed for it because my wife and I have been watching the NHL Finals all morning so I asked for a copy of the signature and it looks NOTHING like my signature! All I can assume now is the contrctor was too lazy to knock on the door and ask for my signature so he signed for it himself = FRAUD!

Needless to say I will be putting in a formal complaint with the Postal Industry Ombudsman ASAP

Absolute crap isnt it, and the onus is still on you to prove you didnt get it when it goes missing!! pfft

That would really p*ss me of as well!
I've had that happen before not for registered post but at an old job i worked at where a courier signed my name for stuff that went missing... Signature didn't look anything like mine.

I hope they follow up you're complaint with a proper apology.

yep the laziness of some posties/contractors is beyond belief.

The job requires barely any mental capacity, yet they are still sub standard.

They did this to me for 6 months, they wouldn't attempt to deliver they just dropped it off at the post office and carded me the next day!

I caught them out though, i waited by the letter box as I heard him doing the rounds and when he handed me a card I said I don't want that I want my Registered Post Letter......he claimed he didn't have it and rode off so I put in a formal complaint and did so EVERY time it happened (I ring 13 13 18 and make a complaint as they HAVE to make an attempt to deliver). It took 6 month but now I get it either delivered when i am home or a card on the actual day I am supposed to!

10 minutes after I complain I go out and guess what.........the contarctor comes knocking on my door with a p*ss weak excuse that they thought they were doing me a favour by signing for it! They are luck I was not home........they claimed "they knocked" but funny that when they came to apologise they used the door bell which is VERY loud - Trying to cover their tracks if you ask me - It's STILL fraud!

ive had a PO Box for the last 5 years, never a problem, before that had mail missing all the time including the bills!!! For $80 a year a PO Box is well worth it (cutting out the postie) i recommend it to anyone who ebays a lot. im lucky that my post office is easy on the car parking!!

Thats exactly what i do now, just use my works PO BOX, never had a thing go missing since!

your lucky you got your stuff. I recently did a card trade on this website and the cards i sent were received but, i have not gotten the cards i was suppose to receive and its been 3 weeks. I have gone to 3 different post offices near my house and they just act all ignorant and say 'we are not gonna look out the back for your missing parcel'. I tried calling up the auspost customer service to see if they could call up the local posties near my house and they said if you wanna launch and investigation, you will need to get the send to do it. I also have had a ps3 game which i pre-ordered from UK and have not received it either. However my mate (who lives about 10mins away from me) had his game dispatched at the same time as my game and received it within a week. I still have not gotten mine. Also, just yesterday I had a big parcel which was just left under my door mat. I dont know if that is the right thing to do, but im pretty sure anyone could have gone and taken it. i feel pretty peed off especially with my ps3 game (L.A Noire) and my cards not being in my mailbox. Im pretty sure they (or someone) has lost it or stolen it as I have ordered things off ebay (after my trade and dispatch of card) and have received them (they were sent from America).

thats unacceptable. why wouldnt they go out and check for your parcels? it does sound like someone might be taxing your stuff tho.
LA noir is sh!t, so dont worry to much...
dont mean to rub it in, but my postie is excellent. leaves my packages where i asked him to (inside my shed), anymore than 5 bubble-wrap envelopes and he'll knock, and he comes around the exact same time every day. 12:45. like clock-work.

That sucks balls.
My last parcel to Aus was express to Terry. According to the tracking it was signed for by "SIGN SIGN". Awesome.

We have a courier that delivers to our house usually around 7.40. One day I heard the van and went over to the door in advance. There he was with the 'card to call' already filled out... he was a bit stunned when he saw me, had to give me the parcel. I've also had a few words to him about actually knocking... Things are better now, but it's shocking how poor these services can be

i wonder if the tough time in the USA has affected postman jobs. get them to work in aus.

they will event take away your mail you want delivered for you.

none of this I must take it to the postoffice myself.

It's happened when I was home and waiting for the package! I even complained and they said they'd tell the postie not to do that. Next package that comes he leaves a note with the letters AGAIN! Because if he actually came to the door it'd be left half under the mat.

You have to lodge a complaint each time he does it........eventually they will have to act.
