Im sure many of you have talked about this before but who agrees that this Linsanity thing is getting out of hand?

The kid has a stretch of about 9 good games and the world is going crazy about him. Is it because he is an amazing superstar or is it purely because he is asian that he is getting all this attention? and im not trying to be racist...

Guys that are just as good (which there are many) and even better in this league get almost no publicity and it annoys me a bit.

In the last 13 games Lin has only managed to score 20 points in 2 of those games and still the media and NBA.com post this guy in the news headlines.
Ben Gordon gets 45 points and hits 9/9 3's and he doesnt even get a main headline on NBA.COM. WTF!?

Lin did what he did with ZERO expectation!! Caught the whole world by surprise and created a feel good story that everyone wanted to hear about! Not just NBA fans!

Ben Gordon has shown excellent potential in the past, but hasn't consistently got it done. Plus hes in Detroit!! No where near the amount of 'media control' as NY!!

Your about a month late! :D

Cards went insane A. The huge Asian market our there and B. He plays for NYK...

Media went nuts for the same reason, everyone decided to ride the "feel good" story but it was over before it began for me!! He did what he did against the bottom sides in the league, he hasn't proved anything against anyone of any worth.....

Great story, but taking way to far and overboard!

yeah im late i know but was just a bit annoyed when all i see when going to NBA news and NBA.com is his friken face posted all over the place. He's not as good as they make out. Yeah I understand he came out of nowhere but players have done that before but because they arnt in NY and arnt asian they get no media coverage.

Look at Isaiah Thomas for the Kings. Very last pick in the draft and is currently 2nd on the rookie ladder but hardly no mention in the media. Now he is a feel good story right?

It was all those factors....from Harvard, to setting points record as a starter, the win streak, being nearly cut and being in NY. I think being asian has increased his profile globally, but even if he wasnt, the rest of the story was enough. And he's still playing well, so a bit too early still to say if its hype or not.

Take it to your next Klan meeting, racist.

I hope you're joking. Because what the guy is stating is true, and he means it in the most respectful way possible. Nobody would care about jeremy lin if he was white or black, it's not often we get asian superstars, i mean, asian players are fantastic, don't get me wrong, but jeremy lin's performance was great but I guess it has died down now. I think he is the best asian player since the start of yao ming's career.

Lin scored 16 pts in the 4th qtr today against a solid Philly team. I reckon we can squeeze some more Linsanity out of him yet.

I think he's solid, he's essentially a rookie still (had'nt played alot last year). The card prices (especially the NT) was just stupid. $1000's when you could get Jordan Exquisite. Just dumb. But hey, the people spending up probably had ALOT of money to do that.

Did'nt he score the most points in his first 4-5 starts ever? Over some big names like Jordan?

He's still learning too. He's strong going to the hoop. Has a 3 point shot.

Ben Gordon is a stud. But he also scored 45 in a loss. The linsanity hyped coz they were winning. People say they had a soft schedule. Well they beat L.A and Dallas in that stretch. Last time I checked they were the last 2 champions.

Jeremy Who?

Propaganda at it's best by the best in the world , they could spin anything into $$$$$ bottom line and guess what they succeed!!

Flip Murray went on a very similar streak from nowhere to begin 03/04 and copped nothing like the attention Lin did.

It has died down a LOT now so surprised to see this thread haha..... going back to last month he had like 4-5 headlines on ESPN alone, now THAT was annoying!

So Kobe is not of any worth?

Ok I'm not one of those guys that think Lin is the best player in the world, but just thought I'd point that out. Basketball is a team game, so it doesnt matter there playing different positions, and the Knicks led by Lin beat the lakers led by Kobe.

Don't get what I'm saying confused, I'm not trying to say I think Lin is better then Kobe, all I'm saying is Knicks beat the lakers so people cannot argue that they did not beat any good teams when Lin was peaking.

Lakers are not a good team this year! They are a mid table team at best. What Lin did was great, the fact he did it while almost being sent to the d league is huge. But, against teams like Chicago, OKC, Miami, San Antonio he has floundered!! Lakers are not a top west team anymore! I see the point but still think its all a massive overhype!
