... Are more people cutting back from "collecting nice things" and sticking to strictly PC items in the hobby? Has panini finally found the straw that breaks the camels back in terms of releasing more than collectors can afford or willing to spend on?
yep thats me to a tea I used to buy nicer cards for trade days and trades but now all im buying is my pc guys Saying that i cant even get much on my pc guys with the prices atm
I used to pick up a lot of random autos of good players around $50, but recently have found myself moving them as soon as I get any to buy more PC cards.
Its been difficult just keeping up with Dirk, who doesnt even have that many cards coming out
Since i am mainly chasing cards from the 90s i have managed to "splurge" on a few nice things which aren't strictly PC.
In the unlikely event Panini sign up Sprewell to do some releases, that could be a different story. The amount of stuff being released it must be hard to keep up. I feel most for people who collect other 90s greats who continually seem be in new releases (Olajuwon, Robinson, Drexler, Wilkins, Payton etc)
That way you have to track down rarer early 90s stuff and also have the constant barrage of low numbered and 1/1 cards being released in new products!
I have been fairly luckey with Bogut not being in some products
but then Immaculate comes out and heaps are being busted
just saw a patch non auto go for $187 on ebay
To be honest, when I came back into the hobby at the beginning of the year, I thought about chasing a few early 90's sets that I had started years back. Now just to keep up with a PC of Jared Cunningham, who is appearing in less product now which is good, I find myself having to part with such set chases. Don't get me wrong, Panini have certainly done some things in the past season that cater to all needs, they just catered to all those needs too many times that's all. They should be taking a leaf out of Fleers book and looking at how crazy they were going in set releases back in the late 90's early 00's.
I just bought a non-PC card the other day for the first time in about a year. Probably shouldn't have because Immaculate dropped 2 days later with another 3 Gloves
I don't have a PC, so I'm only buying nice things I like. Unfortunately all of the nicer things I like are selling for more than I can afford. Had my eye on a few Immaculate jumbo patches that were looking affordable until the last few minutes when they generally tripled...
I believe there are way less people in the hobby than there were a year ago, it seems like prices are starting to be affected because of it and people are spending much more wisely...
It all stems from the Global economy, with most of us having less to spend...
