International postage fees rant

Just blowing off some steam. Can't believe the price for registered international post. I understand where the sellers are coming from but to pay $20 or there abouts really puts major restrictions on what to purchase from US sellers.

Anybody got tips to get around such fees which could be as much as or even more than 1/4 the price of the card bought.

Me sending 1 card overseas registered cost $20 you can adjust your price if you are selling to incude a bit of the postage cost.
If you are buying then try to get as many in the same shipment, but make sure you ask them to combine shipping.
Eg. if you find a card you like then go through the sellers other items to see if you find another.

With Paypal being the money grabbing thieves they are, along with feebay, it's the only way sellers can cover themselves.. And even then its not enough!

and a lot of the blame lies with dodgy international buyers. Always get responses from sellers saying how they have been burnt so will not sell to internationals or will only post via registered.

Get a US forwarding address through a place like www.shipito.com and then you can get them sent there and if you buy a lot of cards you can then get them all sent over all at once via whatever shipping method you want.

Well, I've sent a package worth $250 (shipping fee included) to US for a registered postage fee of $13 and it still got lost in transit! Moral of the story: Use only insured registered post when sending cards worth > $50 even if it cost more.

For us to sell to international, you go two choices - AUD$23 for registered international post or AUD$47 for Express Courier International (ECI).

As buyers, well US$20 is a price to pay for their version of registered post.

USPS in United states have upped their ECI version to US$38 so either way as purchaser or seller, you will want to charge the shipping accordingly.

If you really want the item, then pay for the shipping.
