*3 June 2012: Have removed images from my website as I need the space for some urgent work. I'm certain the signatures are fake and have advised the owner of my opinion and also pointed her to this forum to see what others think. If I'm right about the signatures, it's a crying shame as the shirt itself is a nice one for a collector to have.

If anyone still wishes to see the items, I can email the images.

Hey guys,

Have been asked by a friend to provide some information on this item.

Need to know:

  • Year this shirt is from
  • Identity of signers
I will hold my thoughts on this, so I can get the viewpoint of you guys first.

Appreciate if you could participate, as I think it will be an interesting exercise.

I believe that 3 signatures are Brett Lee, Matthew Hayden, Damien Martyn if that helps any

Thanks Steve. I'd love a follow up from you after you read this response :) Be interesting to see if your views are the same or different.

My own opinion is that these signatures are fake. I told the owner as much, but as I don't profess to be an expert on all things cricket, I figured it would be unfair for my opinion to be the dominant one. Therefore decided to throw this open to you guys to see what the majority thinks.

Here are examples of Lee, Hayden and Martyn (the latter I thought was real at first) signatures from my collection.

Another one of the signatures was thought to be that of Ponting:

I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong. So, would really love to hear some more views and of course Steve, do tell me what you think of my comments.

Hey Nazim

I am certainly no expert, all i did was look and recognize the 3 names fairly easily(only 3 not the others as yet) which may say that they are fakes, though i can also see that some of the sigs that you have of hayden do vary a fair bit also and they are on a card and not a shirt(which would need to be held down to get a decent sig) so i would say that i certainly do not know if they are fakes as signing a shirt is totally different to signing a card and it depends on where the shirt was signed, there are many variables.

My opinion probably wont help but i just would not say they are fakes unless i knew where the shirt was so called actually signed at and when!

Hayden's signature has changed drastically over the years - but you make a valid point. I still believe the signatures on this shirt are as Matt put it "way off"
