improper packaging.

just thought id take this opportunity to remind all newer members to read the stickys that have been posted, especially regarding proper packaging procedure for cards.

i recieved cards today from an ozcards member (who has already done several trades on here so they should know better) and the cards were not properly protected: cards were in pennys and toploaders, however no bubble wrap was used and it came in a normal envelope. its just unnaceptable.

proper protection should be automatic for all cards posted regardless of their value, however i payed over $70 for 3 legends autos and for that youd expect the cards to be very well protected. the cards were fine, no damage, but that doesnt matter. a neg has been left, as i feel this kind of carelessness has to be stamped out. theres no excuse.

I think as the cards were not damaged i think a neg is a bit harsh, maybe a neautral with a warning before a neg.
But i in no way agree with the way they were sent.

sometimes i send cards in pennysleeves sandwitch between a toploader but always sent them in a bubble envelope not normal plain white envelope. always a standard to put the cards in a bubble envelope!

Bubble wrap is important, but i also think a neg is a bit harsh.
If the cards weren't damaged, then a mere warning is enough.

Normal (white) envelopes are a piss-poor effort, and should have been avoided. But they werent damaged, so I dunno.

Totally different story if they were damaged, but since they weren't, perhaps a neg was un-solicited?

well, yeah perhaps a bit harsh, but i feel theres just no excuse for this. the member had already done several successful trades already, so i can only assume they were slack only with my cards. and chad has posted a sticky clearly stating what is and what isnt acceptable in posting cards. maybe a neg is the only way to let people know that it wont be tolerated.

May I suggest this thread be deleted? It's all been said and done before... I don't think JZA needs to explain or make this public.. if the negative feedback thingie being sent to everyone can be fixed, the controversy will be less.

im not sure how the no harm, no foul thing works? if it was an ebayer from the states sending expensive cards in envelopes, i doubt anyone here would have a moments hesitation in issuing a neg...

i agree wid carlos its between both parties and whatever procedure they want to send their cards is their own rules.

On eBay, when issuing neg feedback, the system asks you if you've talked to the other party first and have tried to resolve the problem. It doesn't matter there how many negative feedbacks you've left, you've copped, or how many times you've been reminded about the rules. But yes, there are no rules in leaving feedback. It's completely up to individuals.

I personally believe that everything can be fixed with patience. I'll never leave a neg without trying to resolve it first.

My first impression when I saw your thread was that you're having a bad day and can't be bothered going thru the resolving stage and just give him a neg. You lost nothing anyways, as the cards were undamaged- aside from a possible retaliation neg. Who knows, what if you tried to resolve it, and he decided to give you a free auto, would you leave him a neg? Or make it a neutral or a positive?

My point is- even if you glue the rules/regulations of posting cards on everyone's foreheads, someone will still stuff up. So you're free to leave them negs.

how exactly would you resolve this issue? its done and dusted, what am i going to do, ask for my money back? theres no damage to the cards so why should they? i HIGHLY doubt theyd give a free auto, no one is that generous.

im not having a bad day, im not doing this cos im grumpy. rules are there for a reason, you break em, you deal with the consequences. a neg is not the huge deal that some people make it out to be, its just a reminder to not be careless in the future, thats all.

yeah, maybe time to close this thread down now.

No harm done in listing this thread....the culprit (for want of a better word) hasnt been named and Jezza is just trying to get a point across.

I agree with the neg as the postage standards that we expect on ozcards.com are very clear.

Needless to say i doubt whether this trader will do it again!

I think the ham has been done since everyone of you recieived Negative rating notification on this trade, I am going let MOD to decide what to do next. No more explaining from me as I've already done so in TA. Thanks all guys.

I'm with JZA on this one, white envelopes just ain't good enough, everyone knows it. I wouldn't mind if it was some 30c base card, but $70 autos... it doesn't matter if they got there ok, the next time they might not, better to stamp it out now before some real damage is done.

im glad some people can see the logic, its an unfortuante but necessary action to deter people from being careless with their packaging.

and to think, all this shit could be avoided if people splurged on a tiny bit of bubble wrap...

Hopefully we can all use this as a learning exercise.
No one is having a go at SPCard, its more just trying to educate, so we all know what we expect in trades on thid forum.

I dont agree with your last comment there that you get what you pay for.
On this board everyone expects pennly sleeve, top loader, bubble wrap and probably a Team Bag.
Ifg you cant do that for $2, no problems at all, just let the other person know what your postage cost will be.
I am sure all here would be Ok with paying the extra 50 cents.

look, im sorry mate, its obvious your very upset and taking this very personally. im not sure what could have been talked about, if i had complained to you about the packaging, you would have just said youve stated in previous posts: not my fault, the cards are in mint etc etc. i didnt know that negs are viewed by all people on ozcards, thats a bug in the system that the mods need to get sorted out.

and you OFFERED to send it registered for $2, i wanted to pick up seeing as you live 10 mins away, but you didnt seem too keen on that idea.
