If you’re wondering whether one of the most revered brands in sports card history is as desirable in virtual form as it is in real life, well, it is. That much was proven in no-doubt-about-it fashion Sunday morning when 49 of John Stockton’s National Treasures Basketball Material Treasures card hit Panini America’s NBA Dunk digital trading card app and sold out in less than one hour.
It marked the first time in Dunk’s short history that National Treasures Basketball had been offered. It certainly won’t be the last. In fact, Stockton’s lickety-split sell-out was the first of a special 10-card Material Treasures insert that will be released on Dunk every other day. The second card in the set, 76ers legend Allen Iverson, arrives on Tuesday. Each card in the set will be limited to a maximum of just 49 copies.
While supplies last, Dunk users can obtain the Material Treasures cards by purchasing either a one-card National Treasures Premium Pack (one guaranteed National Treasures card) for 7,500 coins or a five-card National Treasures pack (featuring odds of one every 20 packs) for 500 coins.
Users who collect all 10 cards in the set also will earn a special Karl-Anthony Towns Material Treasures Reward card. If you haven’t already, you can download the NBA Dunk digital trading card app now. We offered a preview of tomorrow’s Iverson card at the top of this post. You can check out the Stockton and Towns cards below. Be sure to pay close attention to your Dunk app for updates on the National Treasures insert or follow Panini Digital on Twitter.
