hi peeps

im having a drama on ebay at the mo, its nothing to do with cards, though i know how good the guys on this site are with there advice

ok so i sold a pair of taillights which i though were SL/e, apparantly the buyer said they werent what he wanted so i refunded him

eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

this is were it gets messy, i told him to hold the lights for me as another buyer from victoria was interested & i told him to hold them
till i have the new buyers address to send them.

so i gave him the new address, i have recieved payment from the second buyer, now the first buyer said hes been made redundant &
the taillights are at work, he was getting them and sending them wednesday supposively, this was monday i got that story, now he wont reply my emails

i know the address were i sent the lights, it is a business in southbank victoria, does anyone here live near there & might be able to pick my taillights & send them for a fee? or can i get in contact with ebay & ask them to sort it out somehow?

i really dont know where to go from here & its a bit dissapointing that people can't be trusted

any advice would be appreciated thanks guys

They look like SLE to me. I thought the standard tail lights didnt have the black horizontal stripes?

Anyway you refunded him for not a described, so you are entitled to get the item back. Get ebay involved. But you can't really force him to send to another buyer. He only needs to return it to you. How did he pay and how was it refunded?Paypal?

Sorry to say this, but you're a sucker. You do not have to refund until you get the goods returned to you. In fact, it is stupid to do so because of this exact situation - he has his money and the product = you lose.
I can understand why you'd want him to pass the product on to the new buyer but you really shouldn't have refunded him first. And I don't think ebay can force him to do anything either...

Very strange bidding. If you include the automatic bidding their were just two bidders the whole time. One driving the price up and the other got left high.

You definately did the wrong thing refunding first. Had you let it go through tthe appropriate channel, then he would have filed a claim. Then he is required to return to you with proof (registered), then he gets refund. Obviously you and many people probably try to refund early to prevent claims and loss of reputation. But it can backfire as in this case. Good luck. Hopefully he is honest about losing his job and you can still recover the item.

Asking another ebayer on behalf of you to send them to another ebayer is plain wrong - you had it coming for you.
But best of luck - The less people you involve here the better - you already have yourself, ebay, 1st buyer, 2nd buyer - just chalk it up as an expensive lesson

I think it is pretty obvious from Gaz's location that the reason for trying to find an alternative to receiving it back and re sending it is due to freight costs. WA is far enough away from the rest of the place to make it an expensive excercise to send larger items.

One thing I have learnt over the last couple of years back in collecting is that people on the net can't be trusted! The odds are too far out of your favour that you will come in contact with someone that will try anything to make a cheap buck.

It is just a shame that Gaz can't trust people to be honest and do the right thing. Its reality, but a shame nonetheless.

you should know people (in general) cant be trusted, and asking them to forward items on your behalf should never have been an option. giving an early refund was also an error in judegment.
hope it works out, but if not, just use it as a lesson.

he told me he posted them and gave me a tracking number, i checked the number on the australia post website, no match

now i got to refund the second buyer $130 and i gave the 200 back to the first buyerwho scored some free taillights.
i am still learning on ebay and yer, it was an expensive lesson, i wish i lived closer, i'd choke him

thanks for your thoughts guys
