Don't forget the kickbacks from the "interest free" companies like GE. They get a commission on every sale from them.
This is one example of why I sent this off to their complaints dept today apparently it goes straight to the franchisee. And before you ask yes i wanted a headset with lights as it would keep my son busy. Was I too harsh or is that justified?
Yesterday I purchased a Star Wars branded Razer gaming headset from instore. A key selling point of these is that you are meant to be able to change the colour of the Led lights on them as seen in this review video on youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=tIpZlaRMpmk#t=126s ) However this function did not work on either of the computers at home with the latest Razer software and updates. I returned to store today with my partner to either get a refund or the defective headset replaced.
As I had my daughter asleep on me my partner was dealing with the sales staff member (after waiting 10 minutes for attention after being directed to "just stand in the comuter area by a member on the registers). The staff member who server her tried to giver her incorrect information on the headphones after a 30 second look at the website on the computer in the office. There is also a function that changes the color of the lights depending on events ingame HOWEVER this is an added option within the Razer software and totally unrelated to the issue I was having. After I informed him of his mistake ( I spent around two hours researching and reading about these headsets yesterday) I proceeded to continue browsing the shop figuring as he now knew the problem there would be a favorable outcome. However he then repackaged the headset incorrectly and got someone else to come out and tell my partner that we were both wrong and there would not be an exchange or refund.
Having spent $186 I am now stuck with a headset with a key feature that is inoperable and rude and dismissive sales staff that have no idea about products they are selling nor will to help customers who have bought defective items.
All around quite a disappointing shopping experience. I was considering buying some other computer equipment but after this I think officeworks will be the way to go.

Man there was never a HN in Cannonvale when I lived there :0D2 years ago, i bought a computer at HN Mackay, 3 months later had an issue and went to get it fixed at HN Cannonvale(Whitsundays) and they told me they wouldnt accept it as i bought it at another HN and i had to go to HN Mackay!!!! Fu%Kers!!!
Got my IT guy at work to fix it!!
ha ha, nice work, glad to hear it worked out (or will be at least).
Personally, I don't like the Razor stuff, I had a guy from the Cambridge store (Hardly Normal) down here tell me that they're not THAT good. If you havent bought anything yet, and want quality (thinkin outside the flashing lights bit, lol), I'd be looking at the Turtlebeach XP500 ($239), or possibly one of the new Black Ops 2 branded TBs. Few bucks more, but definitely have the quality of sound that come with them!
