Asked him if I could get cheaper combined postage on a few items and he actually admitted to this .Although it's obvious why he's doneit. it's funny stuff that he admitted to it via email. Would ebay love this confession or what

Sir, our prices are dirt cheap because we make money on the s/h to avoid high ebay selling fees. Our ebay listing and selling fees have quadrupled since we began ebay and we decided to do our business this way to keep those high fees down. In many cases the selling prices are below the actual listing fees. Now we wouldnt be in business long if we sold like that would we? I hope you understand.

I can see it not being funny for you as the buyer, but from someone just looking at it from the outside, it is kind of ammusing in a smart-arse way... I mean, if I read that someone on the Beckett boards got that response, I'd laugh. It just dulls the fun when it happens to a board member. But it is somewhat refreshing to see some blatant "honesty" by the guy saying he's gonna sting e-bay for as long as he can. I mean, I'm sure we've all been stung in one way or another by big faceless companies... But yeah, it'd miff me somewhat too. As long as u still came out with a good deal, should lessen the pain, though...

I see both sides of these stories.

1, who doesnt try to save a buck when they can!

&

2, sometimes it's cheaper to buy a small price (99c) and pay $20 postage, in-effectively buying it for $21 when the item has a usual retail price of say $40-$50.

Just see what it costs to buy what ever you're buying and if it's cheaper to buy that way, do so, if it's not, buy via Auction, or retail shop.

And although it is against Ebay's policies, rah rah rah, I feel they wouldnt do anything about it anyways. They'd say "not enough evidence" even when they've an email sent thru THEIR system, they call it "not enough evidence".

I would be reporting that as well. If its one less out there its better for all of us. If he wants to make money, he can charge proper postage and rely on repeat business.

Its not refreshing because we know they already do it. Its not "honest" because if he was honest he wouldn't be doing it! Its called a confession.

It's like pulling someone up in the street for robbing a granny:
"Oh I had to rob her because centerlink won't give me enough money...you know how it is...damn government..."

Mark.

policies....thats all you guys talk about...If it keeps ya costs down for the seller, and as a buyer your still getting a bargain, why complain...You obviously kow he's trying to pull cash if postage is up. otherwise...DONT BID!!..simple..

I think it's either set the postage as your reserve like this seller's doing, or put up with possible shill-bidders....

Sometimes you just can't win.

that's why i like trading in this forum..
even if i am to sell, i think i will sell here first..

eBay isn't too reasonable for listing, i wouldn't pay ebay for listing if possible because even if you/others have 10k feedback, it doesn't mean, you will be satisfied with the seller/buyer..

i feel is, this is more specific community, and it will be nicer if we can all bring the buyer/seller from ebay here, we can make easier trades and cheaper sales because there's no listing required...plus we all have our feedback here too...

just my opinion...

Scotty and rayallenfan -they're just cheap inserts worth about $3-4 each and he has them listed for 50¢-75¢ each but $4 postage on each item. I was just asking if he'd combine postage so I'd pay $4 postage for all 5 cards. Other wise the $25 postage isn't really worth the $16 -18 cards cards. You see why I asked?

all i have to say is... urgh.. ebay

okay maybe a little more... stupid evil bloodsucking corporation ebay, constantly jacking up their fees making it harder on buyers and sellers, all in the name of padding their bottom line

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always laughed at sellers trying to justify high S/H as trying to avoid ebay fees, as I thought eBay calculated the final value fee on the item price including p/h. (as opposed to calculating on the final sale price).

If you sent that e-mail to eBay they would suspend him ! Do it =D>

Yeah matty I did that straight away, If he's stuid enough to write that to me I figured the reporting was justified. I'm pretty sure ebay didn't do anything thou

LOL Buzzy, what else is news, Ebay suck ass!

They have no intention on doing ANYTHING to a seller, but as soon as a bidder/buyer f-cks up, they're all over them.

I see your point now tho mate, I didnt realise it was $4 postage on 1 card, and no combined postage.

That's why I still have holes in the Harris Collection, cos ya buy a base card for 99c and pay up to $6 postage for it!
