Might not get much response from this but thought I'd put it out there.
I've got about 20 years worth of NBA Cards that I'd love to organise in a way that is really accessible, neat and tidy. For years I've been using the proper cardboard supply boxes (like what you see in trading card stores) but I was kinda hoping someone else on here might have a better setup or suggestion.
I know this sounds kinda lame but after all these years of collecting it would be cool to have something really nice to organise and display them in. Something along the lines of a cabinet with a few shelves for folders, maybe wooden drawers for a card filing system. I don't know, just throwing ideas out.
Even better, if you had an endless supply of money and no limitations - how would you organise all your cards?
Surely there is some mega collector out there who got a cabinet builder in to make some sort of epic custom storage/display facility for his collection...
For me, sets go into penny sleeves & 400ct boxes.
Individual cards for the pc, penny sleeve, toploader, teambag, then into a sealable plastic container.
i am a little more O.C.D everything i collect (vinyl, cards and wrestling figures) are photographed and entered with a reference number and details about the item. Then i can store/display without needing the original item, this started because i needed to store my figure collection in a storage shed due to lack of space

I have a lot of cards and this is how it is organized:
PC cards
- Catalog/list (Excel Spreadsheet)
- Scans (Photobucket)
- Auto/GU/high-end inserts (toploader in drawer with dividers)
- Base/lower-end inserts (albums)
Non-PC
- Catalog/list (text file)
- Scans (Photobucket)
- Auto (album)
- GU (in a box)
- inserts/RC (shoe box with dividers)
- base (shoe box and A3 paper box with dividers)
Supplies
- used toploaders/cases (A3 paper box in a giant drawer)
- used bubble mailers (same giant drawer)
I also have a processing pile, some waiting to be placed in new sleeves, some waiting to be scanned, some waiting to go into album/toploaders. It is like a factory.
I've been collecting since 1990. I hate folders and boxes are pretty ugly and seeing my Rams collection is kinda huge, with lots of base etc, I had my old man make this for me. He's way better and making stuff than I'll ever be ! It's not so much for displaying the cards, although some can be on top, but more for having my collection in something that fits into the decor of my house. The drawers have adjustable dividers, there's a groove routed every inch or so. Still haven't come up with the ideal labeling system, will have to sort that someday.
Keep track of it all in an Access database, but really need to rejig that, it needs a refresh and is way out of date now...
