How childish can ebay sellers be......

I bought a couple of 2001 future force cards last week from an ebay power seller 8088edge. I have bought from Steve for quite a while and on those two auto's was caught out and did not get the redemption cards because Steve thought it was not important enough to mention in the auction that they were not included.

Started a dispute about the matter then on second thoughts closed the dispute indicating to PAYPAL and the seller it was just not worth the hassle.

Last night I purchased another card from 8088edge, again a 2001 auto with redemption card, paid for it and this arvo was advised he had refunded by payment and the reason he gave me was that he did not like that I had left him a negative feedback.

I mean how childish can this bloke be.............my money is as good as anyone elses, all he has to do is be honest with his customers and specify exactly what they get in the auction...........i mean its not rocket science...

Well it's not great Business sense, a sale is a sale, he possibly has lost you as a customer and may even make others wary of him as well..
Regarding the 2 items you won, does he normally mention the redemption card in his auctions? if so then you have fallen for the old ''assumption'' theory, you probably though as well since you have purchased items off him before, he would be more accomodating, as i said it's his loss down the track and remember, always ask don't assume cause you will make an ass of yourself...

some auctions he will mention the redemption card is included but these two there was no mention either way.

I get where your coming from and you would think he would be flexible enough to sort something else, which if he did in turn you would probably buy more off him, but then to turn around & cancel your winning item is childish, you must have rubbed him the wrong way and been Valetine Day and all :-)

So correct me if im wrong..
The guy lists an auction for the card only and not the redemption card and you left him negative feedback..
im sorry mate but ide be feeling pretty much the same.
As long as you got what was actually stated in the auction then frankly im thinking its pretty harsh...
The error was yours for not asking prior to bidding...win 1 or win 20 it matters not.

In tak35bne defence, things are not always black and white, i agree he should have asked, but he probably expected that the situation would have been dealt differently considering the history between the two, anyway that is my take on it..

I'm not going to say either is right or wrong as both sides have an argument. However, it probably could have been dealt with better by both parties.
Anyhow, the reason I'm posting is that when a similar thing happened to me, I got someone else to buy the card for me. As I pass his work nearly everyday, I can get cards for you if you like. Food for thought perhaps???

I appreciate your input and value the opinions, yes all could have been avoided by asking a question prior to purchase, however, I bought 6-7 auto cards in one hit. I read the first two and they were priced at 59.95 from memory, the following 2001 auto's were all the same price and yes I assumed they came with their redemption card even though on re-looking at the details it did not specify either way.

I agree I share some of this responsibility but so does the seller in this case. I believe a power seller has an obligation to provide all the information to enable the buyer to make a decision and to know what they are buying.

On my first approach to this power seller I was ignored and my questions were not answered until I raised the dispute. The sellers responses were rude and somewhat belittling...........I closed the dispute/s without resolution and my negative feedback was not directed at the card but at the lack of information.

The seller acknowledge that he prolly deserved the neg feedback, he also said that he did not have to sell to me hence he refunded the money that I had paid him..........crazy but thanks for your views.

It is a crazy situation....and as said before given your love of higher end cards probably not a good business move by Steve.

But surely he has no right to not sell you the card.....otherwise any card someone sells where they are not happy with the price they could simply say sorry I don't like...... the suburb you come from / team you support / your breath.......

As you have purchased the card you could neg him again. but then again that would be as childish as him not selling you the card. It is probably best to have the rant here on move on.

Cheers
Ross

I've been asking him (808edge) about his captain card monty betham his quantity says he has 3 in stock but no redeemed predictors. how can this be? but i admit i did ask first. its under the name monty batham dude must have 3 captain cards with errors cause they are spelt wrong.

Obligation also for the buyer to check the listings details to make sure they are getting what they want.

I would like to hope a seller of lots of these sort of cards would know that lots of collectors find it important to have both the card and redemption, i personally like having both.

I made a similar mistake recently and had to pay $16 shipping for a card from the states because i assumed what the international shipping price was, copped it on the chin, my fault for not looking at the listing and contacting the seller before bidding as requested

Live and learn, bad luck though for the seller to loose out on a regular return customer :yellow:

Well its all sorted now, he asked me to revise the feedback for specific reasons and I agreed, The feedback was revised but I still mentioned about the unclear descriptor and as a result, Steve took me off his banned bidders list. I had to pay again for the Joel Caine card he had refunded me for, now I am out double, refund has not gone back into my account as yet but I have paid for it a second time...................

One thing I learned from this experience is never take anything for granted, always ask the stupid question to make sure......................:)

i Hate:mad: the sellers that dont reply to any form of question until you tell them
"not to worry about it all if it is to much trouble"
then they do reply and call you funny names, :swear:
those sellers **** me up the wall:fist:.
so even asking a simple question may not get you anywhere except frustrated

Dave, pretty much agree with above and..8088edge as a collector would have known that card without redemption would not be market value. Did you buy at cheap price. If he sold at market i can understand your concerns. As for the multi buys at 59$, a string of those were selling on ebay- allen and brian(both from brisbane) and went for(this is 2003 FF) 26$ to 35/40$ but i did pay 50$ for one with very low number. I always look at 8088 edge prices and before even looking at card take 33% off.
I have bought multi pks of him, Paid straight away- all no probs- but was blocked from buying more. i noticrd i hadnt done feedbk, completed and block was removed later. he does seem to tie feed bk into future purchase. I could be wrong. Good on ya dave for raising issue. this stuff helps us all. i have learnt from this, i probably would not have asked question knowing i was dealing with a pro dealer. there , now i'm permanently blocked :v::v:

No cheap price, off the 6 auto's I bought in a single transaction, all the 2001 auto's were the same price............so above market value for that card. IF i could find a regular supplier of the cards I need (mainly 2000 and beyond auto's) then I would shop elsewhere...............:)
