The reason why im putting this thread up i was just looking at a afl price guide for 2006 supreme. It had Danny stanley a delisted collingwood player that played few games for $60 then Shaun Higgings and Mitch Clark 2 fast rising stars for less than $60 ea. This surely must suggest that the club is more important than who the actual player is.
Also another example someone would only pay approx $60 for say goddard, Cooney (Brownlow medilist) $65 but untried rookies from the 2009 series sell for $50-$80 (even Watts Melbourne) It makes no sence. Would love some imput from others :v:

I would say the value is what someone is willing to pay. Its fine to put a figure of $60 on a delisted player but will some1 pay that?

Its true the Doggies espec. seem to get a raw deal when it comes to pricing....I actually would love to see those boys win the 2010 premiership, just like Crawf said last Sunday..
don't know if that helps, cheers

I dont know if it would i mean Geelongs prices may have gone up from there flags but not that much. the other night a Glass dps sold for like $30 he is the Wce captain!
I know that release was a 700 but seriously delisted bad players sell for that

Prices seem to be all over the place, its hard to work out... Generally the collingwood cards always sell for a premium though...

I don't think a card can be given a book value as something to stick to,
as they fluctuate all the time based on the market, time of year etc

Really it is what the market is going for, and team performance and time of year make an impact. But their is a base price you can roughly figure. Eg - Redemptions, you know from each series, the rough worth of the signature redemptions .. even after years of sales. Like 2006 supreme for example.

As for the prices of the older series,
i think that comes down to their design. For example - The cooney dps is not the nicest looking card out there, and before he won the brownlow you could get one fairly cheap. As with the Glass, the older designs may not be favourite with the newer collectors today, say as compared to the design of 08 classic with Palmer, Masten, Cotchin etc
