Gary from California here, just happened upon this site when I googled "Sprewell Precious Metal Gems" today. I've been out of the hobby for awhile but collected from about 92-04ish, mainly focusing on Latrell Sprewell, Chris Webber, Ray Allen.....and Billy Owens (don't laugh at me).
Thanks for welcomes OutlawNinja and GarnettFan4Life!
Today's outrageously priced high-end products and all too plentiful autos and memorabilia cards have not interested me so much. I love the cards from back when I was collecting, the 93-94 UD SE Die-cuts, Essential Credential low-numbered cards, Skybox Autographics, 93 Finest refractors and of course the PMG's were my favorite inserts back in the day. I am lucky enough to have an OG red Sprewell, Ray, and CWebb from 97-98....no greens of course.
Reading posts here is making me want to get back into collecting from that era.
I think there's lots of people here in the same boat - 90's collectors, had some time off, seen most of the Panini stuff but still longed for the 90's cards they once were able to get. At least where you live I gather there's some card shops? We had a mad boom in the 90's, card stores everywhere then ebay mostly killed them all and there's virtually nothing in AUS now. Sad.
