Hi all,
My names Chris, from Epping in Sydney, but lived in Newcastle until Jan last year.
I first started collecting cards back in 95/96, and have a partial set of the corresponding Upper Deck (normal) series from that NBA season. I recall there being a huge craze at the time and I jumped on the band wagon. I was only 12 years of age and remember the excitement of opening a new pack (one at a time, about twice a week from a gift shop at Charlestown) and looking to see if there is something shiny inside.
I don't have my old collection with me here in Sydney, and I am itching to drive up to Newcastle to jog my memory and see if I had any cards that might now be worth something. I am hating myself for not finding a sought after rookie card (or Jordan) from that age and holding onto it, such that I could start my collection now with that sale. But oh well, will see how it looks. I recall only needing 10-15 cards to finish off the set, so I might try to track those down.
I am still trying to work out what I want to collect now. I could go for the mid-expensive boxes and hope for some sweet auto cards (Thinking: SP Authentic, SPX, sweet shot?), or collect a whole set with a cheaper series (Upper Deck). Either way, I might make a splurge on one box of Black or Premier.
