Fellowship of the Shoes!
okay, i registered up, and for some time had been viewing the forum and continued to watch its growth!
Its inevitable now, as over time quite a few of the guys i see at the shows are active forum users, including my good buddy, the infamous 'Shoes' (no relation with the username).
I started collecting cards back in the late 70's, and pretty much collected VFL cards in the 80's, and by 1990 was immersed in NBA Hoops and Skybox and wasted $$$ on those enjoyable but valueless cards back in the day, of which i still own. Those computer generated images were REVOLUTIONARY!!!
Anyway, i was fortunate NOT to get burnt on 92-93 U/Deck as i was year early by getting burnt on the 91-92 Rookie Standouts. Those were the days spent at Card Heaven and rohan and neo's Card Cowboys. I continued to trade and travelled quite often to NSW, especially to some of those stores in sydney and parramata.
In 1998, i made my first trip to the National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago, along with a 2nd trip in 2000 in Anaheim, to sell a large proportion of my RC's and work alongside another autograph dealer, travel the world for a year and ended up settling in NYC and going to card shows on the weekends in the Tri=state area - FUN, FUN, FUN!!!
In May 2002, http://www.rareairshoes.com went live and began buying and selling rare Nike Air sports shoe classics along with a few brands, including Reebok, Adidas, New Balance and Puma. Fours strong years on, bball and AFL cards are two areas which are also important together with the shoes, i still enjoy trading autographs. Also, in 2001/2 i did my first card show and still have a stall these days splitting b/n AFL and Bball (NBA/WNBA), and of course specialising in autographs.
Look forward to chatting on the da forums!
