okay, i registered up, and for some time had been viewing the forum and continued to watch its growth! :-)

Its inevitable now, as over time quite a few of the guys i see at the shows are active forum users, including my good buddy, the infamous 'Shoes' (no relation with the username).

I started collecting cards back in the late 70's, and pretty much collected VFL cards in the 80's, and by 1990 was immersed in NBA Hoops and Skybox and wasted $$$ on those enjoyable but valueless cards back in the day, of which i still own. Those computer generated images were REVOLUTIONARY!!!

Anyway, i was fortunate NOT to get burnt on 92-93 U/Deck as i was year early by getting burnt on the 91-92 Rookie Standouts. Those were the days spent at Card Heaven and rohan and neo's Card Cowboys. I continued to trade and travelled quite often to NSW, especially to some of those stores in sydney and parramata.

In 1998, i made my first trip to the National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago, along with a 2nd trip in 2000 in Anaheim, to sell a large proportion of my RC's and work alongside another autograph dealer, travel the world for a year and ended up settling in NYC and going to card shows on the weekends in the Tri=state area - FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

In May 2002, http://www.rareairshoes.com went live and began buying and selling rare Nike Air sports shoe classics along with a few brands, including Reebok, Adidas, New Balance and Puma. Fours strong years on, bball and AFL cards are two areas which are also important together with the shoes, i still enjoy trading autographs. Also, in 2001/2 i did my first card show and still have a stall these days splitting b/n AFL and Bball (NBA/WNBA), and of course specialising in autographs.

Look forward to chatting on the da forums!

Dave

Welcome mate....hope you enjoy the place as much as we do!!!

Welcome aboard Dave. Cool intro mate. I think you've led the life that most of us want to have!!!

Enjoy your stay on here.

ok, my question is, cna u tell me what shoe scottie pippen wore during the 1991/92 nba finals series vs la lakers. they were a black nike flight lite show, mid cut. i cannot find them at all. i have pictures scattered around. but this is my holy grail
any info appreciated. i dont even care if i find them, i just want to know

Welcome Dave no doubt we have crossed paths a decade ago at shows and annoying Steve at Card heaven for our cards over that period. I was involved with a few shops around that time. Asking Steve for the same card week in week out was one of my favourite past times! LOL

Sounds like you know your stuff and thats a great positive for the boards here.

hey

I will look into it for, but i am pretty sure it was from the 'Flight' line, perhaps the Nike Air Bound or Nike Air Maestro. let me do some research! :-)

Great to see you here finally Dave. Although i wouldn't admit to knowing Shoes ;) .
Great intro its been one of the best i read. Hopefully we can do a few deals here.

Welcome Dave nice to see another well travelled collector. Not that I am well travelled. LOL

Slightly off topic was it you Chad that mentioned Card Heaven and Steve?

I got a ton of my Riders from him when he was selling everything off.... great bloke!

Yeah, for sure, the early days of card heaven, like prior to steve being there were also good, where buying cards was more fun, eg without a beckett to constantly refer to, i still collect what i like, but it was different. I reckon i got a few JR's that you might need though! Lists/pics will be coming soon!

One of the nicest pieces that steve's brother gave me after they made a trip to the USA was a poster insert out of the 1980-81 packs. Each team had a poster, and this one was of the Lakers, as a big Magic J fan. A bit of a tangent of a rookie card, still got that and it aint going anywhere!

Ahh the Heaven shop in the centerpoint mall. Damn you are old school :-P

Those posters are cool.

I worked with Rob at Cards n stuff later on. Did you come in there?

Welcome Dave
Nice intro
I remember going into Cards N Stuff when I visited Melbourne fom SA once
It was a nice store.
I remember they had newsletters they would post out, and also would send out player lists. Very cool.
Thanks mate and welcome to the Ozcards family :)
