I'm Mike and I've been living in Perth for the last 20 odd years. Originally from Sydney (Belrose) and my main interests on this forum are NSWRFL/NRL cards. I'm quite proud to be a Manly supporter - good grand final and no sour grapes from me on that point (bad decisions went both ways imo).
Re cards, I started collecting in 1974 (I remember my mum bought a box and I got a packet as a treat every so often) and picked up all sets through to 1981 when the cards got boring, the sets were getting bigger and there was less interest in the playground (making it much harder to put a set together) - and in 83 they stopped cards and went to stickers anyway. I dug out my cards back in 2010 (yes, a shoe box and one of the old scanlens card lockers) and re-started my interest. I have since put together the 82, 86-97, 2000-06 and the 08 Centenary sets - missing the odd insert here and there of course. I have pretty much 0% interest in the the later Select offerings. Between 1981 and 2012 I had not opened a packet. Last year I was over east and picked up 4 packets of the 2012 ESP Limited Edition (managed to get 4 parallels which I now find out is unusual).
This year I've enjoyed the 2013 Elite series and have almost completed the set. I made up for lost time and made not only a few box breaks but also a case break (I can state that some packs come with 8 cards, some packs come with 10 cards and if you give me 5 minutes with a box I can hand you the pack or packs with FF cards in them without opening a pack). I still have a few inserts to pick up and that's my main reason for joining now, although I have been "lurking" with interest for a while.
I buy and sell (a username for each) on eBay intermittently (work permitting) - and NO, I am not into shill bidding because I have 2 usernames. My first username is a US one that I started in 1999 or so, before there was an eBay.com.au and have kept it because my other interests are for o/s items (non-card related). The second one is a more recent local one used mainly for selling.
I probably won't be that active on the forum but will add my 2 bob's worth where possible.
