Hey everyone,

I'm David, 29 from Newcastle, NSW. I've been out of the collector card game for a while but loved it when I was younger (the mystery when opening a packet of cards, the glory when finding a rare card...ahhh!).

I've got a few cards, no doubt no where near what many of you own. Mostly basketball (NBA), some baseball and Rugby League which I'm wanting to sell. So once I get going I'll post some details, but any help would be appreciated, especially determining how much to sell them for and the best method.
I've got some rare cards (well they were rare years ago when I still used the Beckett guide), like the Grant Hill GH0 card, and a couple of the clear plastic league cards of the 90's. I've always appreciated the collecting side of it and kept them within plastic sleeves to look at from time to time.

I have comic character cards, but my brother and I are keeping them and these are the ones we would rather complete, possibly like the 'Sinister Observations' cards, or any of the clear plastic cards.

Look forward to hearing from the community,
Thanks - David (aka. Maverick)

Hey David

Welcome!
Many people (myself included) seem to have returned to collecting lately, there has been a real surge, which is good to see after many shops closed down in the 90's due to ebay/internet explosion.

There has also been a resurgence in demand for 90's high end inserts and other cards as a lot of people tire of GU/jersey cards and auto's and return to the old faithful cards that seem rare now, also some people not liking Panini product return to collect older sets and cards.

Sad to say Grant Hill is not experiencing the MASSIVE demand he did in the 90's as the toll of injuries and lost games drove down values. There is still a strong Hill following and some of his cards go high!! The best way to get an idea is check out ebay, you can search for completed listings of cards, and also buy it now auctions, and average out values to get an idea of what stuff sells for now.

It took me a while to get used to things now as when I joined I listed stuff a bit off from market value, didn't take long and it all comes together. Some people don't like making offers but if that's how you want to do it, post up a sale/trade thread and put some prices on and ask for offers too.

You can get a beckett online subscription for about $6usd/month to one sport, and multi sport packs, and also magazines from sellers here for about $20 or so. All the info helps!

Great members here should be able to help more.

Have fun!
