Back when I first traded a lot of my high end LJ cards away and raised some cash for some KG cards I decided I try and get one real nice high end KG auto.
It ended up being a KG autofocus crystal #15/25 from 04-05 trilogy. I thought it was sweet as!! Anyway I was a very inexperienced collector then and knew nothing about how those trilogy autos faded so bad - needless to say it faded REAL BAD!
A while later I decided to focus solely on Kg jersey numbered cards. I also found the #21/25 version of the crystal auto. I emailed the guy (Bill)wondering if he'd like to trade my version and $ for his version - wasn't interested....fair enough too!
Then I decided to try and get rid of my faded auto. EC, a collector from HK saw how crap the faded auto was and decided to help me out....I was lucky enough to sell the faded #15/25 for $90 to a guy from the Philippines(a big loss on what I paid) and EC offered me the #1/25 version for not much more. I am eternally grateful to Tim for that!!
Soon after I got back in touch with Bill - the guy with the #21/25 auto and asked if he wanted to trade the #1/25 for the #21/25 plus $$ - no deal again!! He paid huge money for the #21/25 and just wasn't interested at all. Fair enough.
Then amazingly, last month he put it up on ebay! I was stunned. I quickly organised a sale of my #1/25 auto to try and raise funds (I had $5!) for the #21/25 auction. Amazingly the #1/25 sold for only $10 less than the #21/25 and this fantastic card is now sitting beside me and I have a big s$%^eating grin on my face cos it is a card I never thought I'd own......
