Hi,
I have been posting on this site for a couple of months now without realising the importance of posting an Introduction Thread first, so I'm sorry to all that communicated with me without knowing or having any information about myself and my history presented forward first. And especially after noticing a number of newly registered fellow members receive messages or posts that state the need to introduce ones self and inform the community on the history of what made us join this excellent and magnficent trading forum plus a little bit of a personal introduction too, so here is my background and sorry about the delay.
I am currently in the late 20's age bracket, and I live in Melbourne's true Western Suburbs near the beautiful and seafront suburb of Williamstown. My current favourite sporting athlete/s would definetly have to be Kobe Bryant (NBA) and Billy Slater (NRL), in my younger days my idol though was like many other sporting fans none other than the immortal Michael Jordan. And Kobe Bryant in my eyes provided the NBA with that all inspiring spark that was definetly needed during the late 1990's and early 2000's once MJ had retired and a new star had to emerge.
I also feel like the NBA as of late really hasn't taken it's hat off to the great man and LA Lakers phenom, Kobe Bryant. Yes he is respected and graced today as one of the elite NBA athletes, but I still see that more can be done and he is still compared and put on the same shelf as a few other current NBA stars. This is just my opinion, and maybe after he retires is when his name will sit next to the other great NBA names such as Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird.
I have always been involved in trading cards and have been a personal collectior for the last seven-eight years or so, yet I was never really a big fan of the Internet to go online and mix up with the big boys who really know the trading card industry.
For me personally, it was simply just the thrill of buying individual packet/s at my local newsagency and/or milk bar and busting them open to see what wonders would surprise me this each time. Every packet usually was something different in relation to what was found, except for the days where every packet/s I bought contained nothing but simple base cards of unknown or semi-star athletes.
My main focus purchasing cards was NBA, yet the occasional Cricket, AFL, and NRL Rugby League packets were also busted too. I can possibly say that the best card I've physically pulled myself was a few years ago when I purchased a now discontinued line, old NBA packet of 1997-98 Metal Universe. And the card obtained was a Championship Galaxy Kobe Bryant card, which I actually still have in my possesion.
The sporting teams that I follow today are the LA Lakers in the NBA, the Western Bulldogs in the AFL, and the Melbourne Storm in the NRL. I peronally like to follow the local clubs and support them as much as I can and whenever possible to do so as I truly believe it is us, the fans, who literally make or break a sporting club or team, and it is us the public technically decide how successful a team's performance can be at certain teams in history.
Thanks very much to all fellow ozcardtrader members who have made my stay so far feel extremely warm and welcomed, very much so appreciated.
Thanks also for taking the time out to read this intro thread, and hopefully I can also get somemore deals completed aswell as meet some very delightful individuals.
Regards,
Michael
