I picked up this sweet Derrick Rose auto recently.
I read the back of the card and it says:
"Rose had fans at the United Center gasping in delight on Nov. 4, 2010 when he pulled off one of the highlights of the young season vs. the Knicks. He blew by Toney Douglas and soared past Danilo Gallinari to throw down a fierce two-handed slam that called to mind a young Dominique Wilkins"
Now I look at the picture and it is clearly a Rockets game, not a Knicks game, so I assume that it is not necessarily referring to the dunk on the card??? (embarassing if they were). But it did get me thinking about tracking down the game that the photo came from.
It was a lot easier than I expected. The image shows Chuck Hayes trailing Rose, and the image on the back (wider view of the same image) shows Luis Scola. I did a google search on Rose dunks and found the full image of this exact dunk that showed Kyle Korver further back. Korver only joined the Bulls in the 10-11 season, so it had to be then or later. I looked at the game logs and found the only time Houston played in Chicago that season was the 4th of December.
So I searched for video from the game:
Watch the 0:34 mark.
Maybe some people have done this before, maybe not. But I thought it was pretty cool to track it down!
I also found that Rose had 30pts, 7rbs, 11ast, 5stl and 1blk in that game and the Bulls won by 3 in OT.
That is pretty cool I will have to check some of my cards to see whether I can find the whole picture, doubt I will find any matching video though! There is a few times where I have come across recognisable pictures on Google Images I think it was Faried and Mutombo. Will see if I can find a few now
