A card came up on ebay that i really want, the seller has it on auction, but i thought i would ask if the seller had a B.I.N. figure in mind.

he comes back with the general......"make me an offer"

so i did , i offered a little bit over what i thought it was worth hoping he would accept.

he comes back with.....

"Hi
I think $$$$ is more than the card's worth
however, I'm sorry that the card owner want to let it on auction so, pls bid and hope you can won on a lower price thanks"

that is a direct quote, minus the dollar figure.

i can't believe he won't accept my offer because he doesn't think the card is worth that much........never heard of a seller downselling there product:blink:

i would say that will be the 1st and last time a seller declines an offer because the offer is too high:lol:

Doesn't seem like his English is too good. Think what he meant was that the card is worth more than $$$ of dollars, and good luck on your bidding, maybe you can win it for less.

Sounds like the seller might be doing it on consignment and screwing his client - maybe he isn't a big fan of the client.

Though it's a bit strange that he wouldn't take the higher amount seeing as they would normally get a % of the sale ?

i was thinking that, but why no counter offer??

Perhaps just doesn't want to go through the hassle of it or maybe didn't think you'd budge with your offer? On a related note, I had someone contact me to end an auction early and the message I sent him counter-offering didn't get sent through, even though it was marked as sent. I have a feeling that eBay filters some of these messages through.

They do, but not all that well. I had ebay contact me warning me to not accept payment from a certain bidder who was trying (according to ebay) to transact outside of the normal method. All the guy did was ask for my bank account details after he had legitimately won an auction:rolleyes:

lol..probably an attempt to get you to stick to using PayPal and get whacked additional fees.

Hope you get it for cheaper ;)

He may bid up the card thinking you would want to go higher than what you offered him.

Sounds like he's selling it for someone and is under instructions to let the auction run no matter what, so he's saying to u - sorry I can't end it - good luck and I hope u get it cheaper...

That's my read...
