hi guys.

hope our christmas was all good and more importantly safe, merry xmas to all and thnx for the great memories on ozcards.:thumbsup::thumbsup::v:

OK had a few nice cards come in over the last week, wanted to share with u all. three of them are a tribute to the one and only slobbythegreat . they were graded and decided to bust em open cos i wasnt too crash hot with their gradings (rule of thumb, if the grading label isnt Beckett 9.5 MINIMUM, then your allowed to rip into it ). mind you the Bogut population is the only way graded that high, and the only 9. read on to see what i mean. cheers

righto heres a really nice Vince Carter Auto from the early 1999-00 UD Retro INKREDIBLE set, totally love the 90's inserts and autos. it was graded 8.5 Beckett, so in pretty mint condition but nothing gold. check it out:

OK we'll move onto some Buyback Auto greatness. totally love the fact this card is originally from 1988-89 Fleer. re-released in the 2006-07 Fleer product, check out this baby of Hakeem aka Akeem Olajuwon Buyback Auto and serial numbered to #/24. really like this card:

ok we'll now move onto some of my favourites, MJ 90's inserts. these here are from 1996-97 UD3 SUPERSTAR SPOTLIGHT and the awesoem 1997-98 Upperdeck GREAT EIGHT #ed/800 inserts. for those who know their 90's inserts will know the MJ GREAT EIGHT is a pretty rare card to come by. also note that the SUPERSTAR SPOTLIGHT was PSA graded 8, and with PSA minimum it must be a 10 in order to leave it in its case . check it:

righto now onto the last baby of the bunch. The following is an Andrew Bogut 2005-06 SP Authentic rookie card which was graded a pretty high 9 for its kind. IT WAS THE HIGHEST EVER GRADED CARD OF ITS KIND, & POPULATION EVER WAS 1. so not anymore though,. there have only ever been 2 of these cards graded by Beckett. one graded a 8.5, and the other a 9. these cards are known to have some type of defects, so a 9 is very very good. from the parallel LIMITED EXTRA ROOKIE AUTO PATCH #ed/25. goes very nice with the PATCH version i already had. check it:

righto thats all for now folks, thnx for checking my mailday thread yet again, and hopefully i can have one more nice explosive mailday before the year ends. take it easy guys, and wishing you all the very best. cheers, STEVE :) :) :)

ps. heres the graded labels that i pulled off each of the 3 cards i busted. check out some of the categories grading scores (Edges, Centering, etc.):

thnx for the nice comments mate, appreciated. yeh sometimes i use a scanner and sometimes i use a digital camera. and sometimes i use both to get the proper effect of a card (especially for foil cards and refractor cards). what i mean by both is example:

the Michael Jordan SUPERSTAR SPOTLIGHT insert. the center circle with the pic of MJ is a see-through image and doesnt show up in scans. so to show that effect, this is what i do:
1. first i scan the card (this scan doesnt show the center image, scan is dull)
2. then i take a photo of the card (this photo shows the center image)
3. i edit and cut out the center image from the camera pic, and "paste" it onto the scanned image.
4. flatten layers and then save the image, done.

know what i mean now? With the scanned image, i try to use a high resoltion scan to show the card in al its beauty, 1200dpi is usually standard i use. sometimes thoguh i use a 600dpi scan. example, the cards in this thread are with a 600dpi scanner. cheers mate, & take care.
