My friend told me that the ato/customs are now charging import taxes (even on online purchases) if the value is above $1,000.
Does anyone know if comc writes down the value of cards on the postage slip and would i be charged import taxes if the total value is over $1,000? If i do get charged i might have to break up my cards into seperate lots to keep the values under $1,000.

They've been doing this for a long time.

Comc - if using mailbox you need to declare the value. If items purchased they use that value or a combination of both.

And yes you would get charged.

Yeah this has been the case for at least 6-7 years that I know of. I got hit on a Beckett grading lot as you have to estimate the value once graded. Mine was over $1k estimate and they tried to hit me when they came back to oz. Got out of it, but yeah that was like 6ish years back so def not a new thing.

Thanks for the replies. At least i found out now rather than being hit with a suprise tax bill. So how much is the import taxes being charged? Not sure what the exact value of all my cards at comc is but its definitely over $1,000.

15%WTF!! that's over $150 import tax  and then postage fees on top of that. Looks like i'll have to split my orders up and cop the $60 per postage fees to keep each lot under $1,000.

Whinge time ...... these postage and transaction fees are killing me. Could have bought another sick PMG or nice Jordan card with all those fees paid.

I just took a punt with my last shipment, few grand worth of cards, none purchased from Comc just all sent there.
I paid $70 USD for shipping registered express or something like that and just declared $300 value.
It is not a nice feeling having to do it but with the more expensive shipping methods they have and quicker delivery I reckon there is less chance of anything being in transit to long.
On the other hand if something did happen I would of been gutted but I am not prepared to pay hundreds of dollars on extra taxes.

Cant remember exactly but during checkout stage, and you can always go back during the order request before the order is all wrapped up.

Hey guys this I completely off the GST topic but I'm about to do my first mailbox shipment and the cards that comc have received which come in toploaders or magnetics like they've shown in their emails they send do they send them like that or do you have to add toploaders to each card when checking out cheers

Should be sent in top loaders, sometimes they take them out of one touches and put in top loaders but not all the time.
