Hey collectors, I've been on the forums for a couple of months but have only just got around to posting an introduction. My name's Greg, I'm from Mount Barker in SA, and I'm on my fourth basketball card collecting stint at the moment.
I first got into the hobby during my high school days, the card explosion of the early/mid 90's when Shaq entered the league - no idea what happened to my collection from those days. My second collection started when I bought a pack of cards from my local newsagent back in '03 or '04 and pulled a Kobe jersey card - I remembered the thrill of the opening and started buying again (that was around the time of my last box break, an 04-05 UD Hardcourt box from what I remember). That collection got sold in '06 to help put some money toward my wedding. My third collection started in late 2011 when I started focussing on rookies, and I've now switched focus to vintage cards and a limited PC (rookie, jersey, and auto) of some of the big-name players of the 70's and 80's.
The highest value card in my set at the moment is Ewing's RC from the 85-86 Star set, and it takes pride of place alongside my Jordan/Lebron game used dual jersey card from back when the jersey cards actually said they were worn by the player in question during an NBA game....
I'm working off an extremely limited budget at the moment (for pretty much anything I want I need to trade for or sell part of my current collection), but I've had some positive experiences on the forums already as well as some fantastic deals with Brett (aka Mr Paparazzi) via his FB page, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Paparazzi-Cards-Collectables/175644629154512.
