The Celtics announced before the game that first-round draft pick Gerald Green has been assigned to the Fayetteville (N.C.) Patriots of the NBA's development league.
i recall someone telling me his rook season would be better than amare stoudemire's was (rookie of the year, 13.5 ppg, 8.8 rpg), but green hasn't logged any time yet.. suppose i was right again.
he was overrated coming out of high school though, he is not fully complete as an offensive player yet, he's just a josh smith/jr smith type athlete with slight better shooting ability.
oh, forgot to add, dorell wright was also sent to the NBDL what a big dissapointment. but like green, he's very talented and if Shaq believes he's the next big thing, that's enough for me for now, plenty of good players have come from the NBDL and considering he's only 19 he has plenty of time to get ready.
Well it proves the NBDL is meeting it's purpose. Giving these underprepared High Schoolers or College players an opportunity to play, and also against competition for them, is destined to aid their development.
