Generosity Points/Feedback System

Once again, Mavs has had a thought.... actually, it's not just me this time!

Dunno how you feel about this, but I've had a few guys saw this to me before, that we should have a points/feedback system that people "earn" when they send out stuff to other members (non-trades/sales, just out of kindness).

What do you think?

If member "X" sends member "Y" something for the sake of it, helping them out, should member "Y" be able to give them a point for it? Or at least some sort of kindness feedback?

It's not something that people would use to gloat about, but some day, some where, that person would be on the receiving end from someone else!

Mmmm...pretty unnessesary i think Scotty. Generally....well for me anyway....when i send out a gift i dont expect anything in return...or any praise or anything.

Keep those ideas coming thought mate

Not a bad idea mavs but i think it would have to be controlled by the mods. What they could do is go off the Thank you thread and gives points but without an agreement thread it could just be rorted as 2 members can just pretend to give each other stuff just for points (not that anyone here would). Also what would happen to all the free stuff that has already been sent out?

I am a member of a message board that has a Karma rating.....people can give points for a good deed done.

Another suggestion I had was that we could use the feedback system to allow people to give a positive rating to people who have helped them out by sending them free cards.

Personally I dont want anything in return for helping someone out, but I would certainly like to give something (Positive feedback) to those who have helped me out.

Just a suggestion!

Ace, you can give someone 1 point for them doing something good, or a point for something bad....the overall score is shown like the feedback under the persons profile.

I understand that when we do something like this we expect nothing in return, but in the situations I've had from being on the receiving end, just leaving a "thank you" message isnt enough (IMO).

It's like shouting someone a beer. You'd say thanks, and yet you'd still take them out for a beer aye.... (although not a good idea to shout beers on here, we do have a few underage members)

I send out free cards not for acollades or even to be posted in the thank you thread, but because their cards that I have no real interest in so they might as well be with someone that wants them. Exactly.

I give cards out that have no real value to me to collectors who's PC will look better for it, or I know will cherish the card more than I would.

agreed! While recognition would be cool... karma is more than enough those that help others receive from others.

Speaking of points and things, what about a referral system score? Or a tag somewhere in the profile that you were referred by ....

can see who is promoting the site, or is it getting too complex now

One pitfall with that is people might promote it too well to get points and I'm sure that hurts the quality of member coming in. Right now people invite those they think would make great members or had dealt with in the past.

At the end of a day just give yourself a pat on the back.
