hey all
after not seeing any games at all this year, ive watched approx 7 full nba games this week, many of them barnstorming finishes and/or ripping contests and i just thought id share some of my observations from a few games:
Clippers @ Spurs when Duncan hits the go-ahead basket
- timmy still got lots of game, knows how to get in the right spots consistently - amazing how he out-positions much younger and more athletic players... one of my all time fav players
- manu went down early... possibly the only thing that keeps them form a real strong playoff run will be health to manu, he is such a barometer for them... they have a wonderful balance of youth and experience
- theyve got dangerous spot up shooters which keeps other teams on their toes
- clips are soooo damn athletic at every position, lots of scoring punch... man i love jamal crawford
- blake i gotta say was a disappointment to watch as he relies too much on his hops and hasnt really developed any sort of go to move yet
- cp3 always cool and always makes the right decision
LA Lakers @ Sacramento when Kobe passes Wilt on scoring list
- dwight playing at a much more consistent level now, this is what everyone expected right off the bat when he arrived in LA - very valuable for them now
- kobe just wont let them miss the playoffs, doing all he can to get them there
- earl clark and jodi meeks have been nice cheap finds for them, both can spread the floor with their 3 pt shooting making lakers dangerous
- lakers not likely to make much noise in playoffs though
- kings are a selfish rabble, losing breeds more losing - not a good environment
- demarcus can be anything, has all the right tools but could do with some conditioning to become leaner & add muscle and obvious work on the attitude, has soft touch around basket and can put ball on floor suprisingly well for his size
- jason thompson is a solid nba player, lunch pail type guy
- marcus thornton would be a perfect 6th man spark plug for a contending team, very streaky but exactly what you need off bench
Charlotte @ New York
- JR is a very erratic but high quality NBA player, adds so much scoring punch off bench - the ultimate 6th man
- melo having season of his life and has confidence that he has a good team around him that can go places - is this the yr he gets past 2nd rd?
- i like shumpert for them long term, he showed a bit
- this team is hitting its straps at the right time and can produce anything come playoff time particularly with the hot shooting duo of melo & jr
- charlotte like sactown is a lost cause... i just cant see them getting out of this cycle of futility... simply not enough talent there
- gilchrist-kidd is a workhorse and will be an awesome do-it-all glue guy in the nba for a contender, like battier, henderson can play - boy ben gordon has fallen away since his chicago days
Miami @ Cleveland
- there is simply no player on the planet like lebron... phenomenal player
- miami's 3 pt gunners are the best in the league, ray ray, battier, miller, chalmers... when they are on loike they were in last yrs finals, aint nobody beating these guys... they were down 30 odd pts and then went on a 55-19 run in one and a half quarters - awesome to watch
- kyrie, varejao & waiters were all out hurt but they have a gem at power forward with tristan thompson, works hard and gets in the right spots
- another high pick this yr and the cavs will look good in next 2-4 yrs... good talent
Portland @ Golden State
- steph curry is such a quality gunner from the outside, so pretty to watch... he has dad Dell to thank for that sweet shooting stroke
- team overall looks good but need some more season under their belt together to make any noise in playoffs... landry is excellent off bench
- cant believe that lillard is such a good shooter, never knew that about him
- jj hickson is a beast
Thoughts??
