BRISBANE
???? Anyone know Brisbanes team?

Thoughts on how Geelong will go without Scarlett, Ling, Milburn, Kelly, Ablett & Varcoe.

brisbane should get over the top of them i reckon, not enough quality at every position for the cats like we're used to seeing... when you change 1/3 of your team in 1 week, you're bound to have chemistry issue i reckon... this has been the major issue with my hawks this year as the young guys arent tough enough, arent experienced enough and dont know the system in a game situation, well enough

if brisbane are ever gonna beat you, this is their week

It's gonna be tough without basically our midfield and defense and true what you said, "if brisbane are ever gonna beat you, this is their week "

for example, ive never heard of any of your emergency guys before: hunt, mckenna, laidler... you have 5 fringe players playing hogan, gillies, tenace, byrne, djerrkura and you could even say gamble, stokes, lonergan are fringe also

on paper brisbane has to be a lock wouldnt you say???

Tom Harley 08' AA
Corey Enright 08' AA
Andrew Mackie 08' AA initial squad of 40
Joel Corey 07' and 08' AA, 05' and 08' B&F
Jimmy Bartel 07' and 08' AA, 07' Brownlow
Cameron Mooney 07' AA
Paul Chapman 06' B&F
Joel Selwood 08' AA initial squad of 40

I definitely don't expect us to smash the Lions... but! we still have some mighty fine players on the ground for us tomorrow. I wouldn't say that Brisbane are a lock! It should be a well fought game (well I reckon anyway...). Remember that there are 700+ listed AFL players... to be listed in the top 40, let alone in the top 22, means you're a pretty darn good footballer. I think people often forget that, because Geelong have had so many AAs in the last 2 years, AA selection has somehow lost some respect.

Also... BRL has quite a lot of inexperienced players on field too!
Sam Sheldon - 9 games
James Polkinghorne - 14 games
Mitch Clark - 37 games
Albert Proud - 21 games
Matt Austin - 4 games
Tom Collier - 12 games
Jack Redden - 0 games

Honestly who expected anything other than tonights result to occur ?
If you take out 5 vital 'cogs' inthe team 'machine' it won't function according to plan.

yep disappointing from the cats perspective but thats how things go i guess losing by that much but brisbane did play really well and had both its midfield and in particular forward line, functioning well...

another notch in the belt for vossy who is having a stellar 1st season as coach

As a Brisbane fan I am obviously happy, but I can't read anything into it and I would've much rather played a full strength Geelong side to see where we are at.

still, a win is a win... form and momentum are everything in footy... if i were you, id be happy my team is playing well

my hawks on the otherhand continue to sputter along, we won today however which was great... they played the last qtr like the hawks of 2008, hopefully this is where our run begins

Didn't expect such a blowout loss.
I am, however, glad that we were seriously challenged (the loss isn't too horrible a thing either). The more our boys taste defeat the more they'll want that flag come the last Sunday in September and the more our boys get seriously challenged the more we learn.
Props to Brisbane on a brilliant performance though.
They played brilliantly to exploit our weakness. We were missing Hunt, Egan, Scarlett, Milburn, Kelly and Mackie from the backline and their quick, long entries into the F50 really killed us.

I'm glad i support a team that can win tight ones and then back it up with a win the next week

Nah, in all seriousness, pretty hard to function when your spine isn't there.

Excuses excuses.
Nah i'm only joking, what do people think of the Saints v WCE game earlier this afternoon? I though WCE were going to win at 3 QTR time.
