Hi everyone,
Just thought i'd drop in and say g'day to fellow card collectors.
I'm into footy cards mostly and non-sport promo cards.
I used to be into nba stuff back in the early 90's as everyone was, but once the speculators left in droves, it really hit home that 99.9% of people that were into them aswell weren't in it for the hobby of card collecting, but purely for the $$.
by 1996 you couldn't give away nba cards, no one really cared about dikembe matumbo and the likes it was about then that I asked myself, what on earth am I doing with cards from a sport i'm not really into, and pictures of 7ft 4in afro/american blokes looking up, holding a basketball.
fortunately for me I offloaded my inserts ect just as the market was turning so I didn't lose out as much as some did.
But I still have some common sets I like, in particular I think my favorite nba set is (i can't remember exactly off hand) think it's called "ted williams" by donruss, not sure but when I find them again i'll let you know anyways, the reason I liked that set was the variations within it, there were lots.
anyways, before i start rambling on too much about the good ol' days I might have a browse around the site, catch up on what's been going on this past 3 years and hopefully i'll have some bits to add to this forum.
Cheers!
Ben
