Hey Guys,
I need all your wisdom again...

I am in Europe at the moment and have been checking out the prices of the 360's and PS3's and they appear to be considerably cheaper (400euro...or about $600AUD for the PS3).

Now the help....if i buy one of these wil there be any issues using these in Australia. Obviously the power point connection will be different but besides that i cant see too many issues.... Also will the AUS games work on these systems?

Can anyone help me?:worthy:

Also....in all your humble opinions...which one should i get??
Cheers

I am not sure how much they are in AUS. but I know that is around the same price in USA for them so if that is around the same as where you are from I would just get one where you live. Hope that helps a little mate :)

Pretty sure games are region free, movies aren't.I recommend getting the 40gb model which plays previous ps2 games.Good luck on the purchase.

Yeah games are region'd also.

As Marcus said, we're PAL, so any NTSC games you grab, won't work.

There's "Region Free" games on Ebay, but not sure how they get that way, or if they're copied, etc...

im pretty sure Europe is PAL like Aus so if you bring the console + games back here they should work fine.

id go for a 40gb ps3, as jordan23 said, they play ps2 games.

cheers,
Andy.

You might as well buy one here mate. PS3 is $688 ish in Big W and you wont have to buy a travel plug for it to fit into our socket. Voltage convertor not sure on, and it will save you lugging it all the way back.

Most region free games originate from Asia. Also keep in mind there is no warranty if the console fails and you might have to import most of the games here.

thk

PS:what are the prices of games there?

the other thing is warranty. you'll prob lose warranty from over there. but as long as its a PAL unit it will play AUS games

europe and australia are PAL territories so any games you purchase over there should be fine. make sure theyre not NTSC games which are made for the Jap/US market.

of course, if you buy a chipped console you dont have to worry!

Chipped is the way to go but we can't discuss that here.;)

I would personally hold out until after Xmas & buy back home.

Thanks for the input guys....have been able to find pS3 40gb model for about $400 euro which is about $600AUD....

The games are pretty similar in pricing once the currency conversion is taken into account.

I will probably just wait until i get home and look to buy one then....

Thanks again :D

i saw two people suggesting to get a 40 gb because it plays ps2 games? Its the other way around, 40 gb do NOT play PS2 games , 60 gb consoles play PS2 games.
