I have nothing else to hunt down, so may as well give this one a try:
Futera AFL release; this was made sometime in the mid 1990's (95-97) and I'm not sure if it ever made it to the hands of collectors. I haven't even seen a card from this release but it was supposedly a test run requested by the AFL for Futera. Any info would be appreciated.
3 years later and this has finally surfaced, 50 sets made and these are promos as they official didn't have the license but where made for the AFL.
Wonder what Select thought when the AFL tried someone else.
The ex directors and employee were at this auction to keep a close eye on the end price, one of then did mentioned they had this set. Funny how Futera are making a come back here in Aus and these ex employees all of a sudden start off loading these rare stuff that they kept all these years .
I didn't actually see what the set went for until after I wrote that. The story behind this set is great, but don't think I'd ever be able to get my hands on them. Hardest to find AFL set ever you'd have to say. They look of pretty good qualitity too. Can you imagine the hobby today if Futera won the contract and it kept them in business, they were numbering lower end insets back in the mid 90's, Select have literally only just started doing this 20 years later lol.
