yes... Greece vs Turkey game may not be shown, but i was talking about the cable and majorities sports TVs... i cannot say that it will probably show in Thailand LOL.... but what Ace definitely points out is, there are alot of european families living here for so long and pay per view should be available to probably every area that has cable tv line.. I can sense that there are alot of Greek people here and they all really love football.. i remember before the world cup when greece came and play at MCG stadium, Greek people are very keen and they even had like a big street party to celebrate both of the nations.. in my experience in many counties, they would show other counties qualifiers, honestly, FIFA is making big bucks from TV revenue from qualifiers.. as many clubs are stressing they have to send their players for national team games... and came back injured..
And i can definitely sense that Ace has turkish bloodline somehow, by the look of the name and collector of Okur... i am sure many guys would love to see greece and turkey game since those teams are pretty much known as giant killers in soccer world...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a dedicated Greek channel on Fox. I know there's 2 foreign channels, and 1 is Italian, and I'm thinking the other is Greek.
Ace - Your argument may now be about Pay TV vs FTA TV (and no, I do not personally have Foxtel, but I do have access if I wish), but how many other Australian sporting events are shown when they are overseas???
Cricket is pretty much the only one (except Olympics, Comm Games) that is shown on FTA, and even now I doubt there will be another foreign tour shown on FTA (just the cost).
Remember they bought in Pay TV so you didn't have advertisements. Now Pay TV even have ads, so they're raking in the $$$, and supplanting FTA, as FTA has lost some of it's advertising revenue to Pay Tv and now have less money to spend on sports broadcasting.
Unfortunately my point is made tonight... Australia Vs Uruguay is not shown on free to air (i dont know about foxtel).
This just plain and simply sucks..... .
its because since the socceroos are a big time side now they have signed a deal for foxtel to cover all there games. sbs no longer can televise thei games.

I think it reflective of the general population's wants. Soccer has gained popularity recently, as did basketball in the early-mid nineties. There were a lot of bandwagon jumpers around World Cup time and the residual effects are still being seen now.
Question - If there was a race-oriented brawl in an Aussie soccer match, how quickly do you think advertisers/fans/journos would jump off the bandwagon?
