No soccer isn't sounding good. It is the origin of all football codes. What would you call Gridiron then and rugby. It is legally called football in this country now, if you look at the a league website you will not find soccer written once other then referring to the socceroos (lets not get me started about that ridiculous name).
Why does everyone think they are english teachers. Screw your proper spelling, use of commas etc. etc. lol I get enough of that crap at home with my partner thinking she is a english teacher.
Football in the US is gridiron! That is why they call it soccer too! But the pint is.... Who cares! It is known as soccer in Australia, so why would you get upset at it being called soccer on this site??
And the correct English comment was a joke aimed at you! You want to correct the wording used on the site, but can't even use the right word in your sentence!!!
As it's only one unhappy camper that doesn't like the name 'Soccer' for the title of these particular forums, keeping them under their own 'Soccer' name would be mighty.

i think the point is that soccer is just as legit a name as football. and when in rome...? you say football over here and you have to clarify.
in saying that, itll always be football to me.
sidenote: its not called gridiron. they play on a gridiron. its american football.
You must be female drob because women can't ever let anything go/slide. I wasn't aware that i needed to have everything spelt correctly on this site.
I apologise to anyone that was offended that I didn't take that extra few seconds to spell check my post.
Now if your such an English expert then you should only want it called football everywhere.
Thanks for the side note sgt_pepper. Sad that I wrote that because I was only explaining that to my partner a couple of nights ago.
Aussie rules = footy, soccer = football. I believe Australian's have the ability to be able differentiate between footy and football. Only the yanks call it soccer because they call gridiron football, that always makes me laugh considering they might kick the ball half a dozen times a game.
Don't worry Adelaidecrowsaregay I wouldn't expect a cow supporter to able to understand lol.

A quick history lesson Stern Blend - if you go right back to the very early days, Association Football was also known as Soccer in the UK. There is also a long-running and very sucessful tv show in the UK called Soccer AM (featuring the delicious Helen Chamberlain!) and they seem to be able to differentiate easily enough.
Perhaps next time contact Graham privately with constructive criticism rather than jumping up and down like a sex-crazed Orangutan!
