Finally got my Xbox - Not happy!

So I frantically tear open the box with no regard for its future function and boot up my spanking new 360. I bought "Condemned" with it. A game that I thought would be super - the whole horror, adventure, investigation thing...

After about 22 minutes I turned it off in frustration.

The first mission you have to search around this dark room with a flashlight to find some kind of evidence. It was like driving around Macclesfield for the first time in fog with no roadmap. I eventually found the evidence by accident. Then I walked through some hall and a dick with a bat jumped out of nowhere and scared the crap out of me. Of course I killed him, but it was dark and he was moving around like a nutter, so I managed to fire off about 10 rounds and kill him by chance.

Damn games are tough nowadays. You need to be a hardcore gamer it seems just to get past the training mission. What happened to Mario Kart

I had a dig at one (that Racer game, cant think WTF it's called right now) - it was the game that helped sell the first release....

Gameplay was smooth, graphics were hell realistic!!

Anyways, I thought it was hell slow to load the race up... is this the game, or system?

Also tried out Elder Scrolls. Loved the look of it! Nice Instalment in the ES Series.

What's ur initial thoughts on the system Wayniac? Nice system, boot up menus, etc, etc.....

i think you should have got elder scrolls oblivion, its supposed to be bloody amazing, best launch title by far.

I have Oblivion incoming! Heard it's awesome too.

Mavs, my initial thoughts... well, it hasn't exactly rocked my socks. I think it shouldn't be remembered that it is essentially a small but powerful PC designed specifically for gaming. Thus I doubt that we will ever see marked improvements as the XBOX releases new models every few years (in the same way that the N64 improved on the SNES for example)


The 360 obviously has superior video/sound cards - I look forward to checking out a first person shooter like Farcry which will make better use of its abilities.

The controller is pretty cool being wireless and all, but does seem a little on the heavy side, like if you dropped it then it might be expensive! The box itself is a little annoying with one huge mother of a power supply - gonna have to find a place for it!

Stay tuned... having a gaming night with some mates tonite and they're bringing over a whole bunch of games..

wayno i was thinking of getting 1 as well becoz now sony will delay ps3 until 2007. i seen a preview in JB HIFI and was impressed wid the graphics on them. btw it was a racing game so dont whats the difference in other game. also i heard in U.S that some had problems wid the unit hopefully it doesnt affect australian units.

and even then I'll wait a couple years.... still happy with my PS2... I think I'm a lil anti xbox.... but who knows maybe I'll go 360 one day if I get jack of PS2... the price comes down a bit... and its before PS3.... lol

well I upgraded my xbox to make me feel better with the 360 coming out...

basically my xbox is now another PC...it loads xbox media centre, I can run divx movies, play games, MP3's like a juke box, tells me the weather when Im online with it all sorts of shit...160 gig hard drive has 70 games and the series of lost and prison break...and it didnt cost me a cent...good times

i would love to get a XBox 360! Only have a PS2. But my mate has live 06 on the 360 and i gave him a game early on in the week. He had been playin it flat out for the previous 72 hrs lol. Had a season record of 8-3 with the Mavs and you wouldnt believe.... i bet him lol, first crack at the game and with an x box controller!

gotta wait for the new ps3.. but i hear its 8 layer discs, how the hell can you copy games? i spose they can/will be ripped.. it will be the movies that will be the large buggers on them.. xbox 360 can already be modded and games can be copied

well it has been out in the US (and japan too?) for about 6 months now, so theyve had time to tinker with it.

The only thing is you can't use Xbox live from what I have been told if you mod it.

yeh me and my brother own burnout revenge and Graw!!

The graphics are fukin unreal even on a normal tv. To get the best results it has to be seen on a hd screen. And i have seen them on a HD screen in person although i dont own one it is quite amazing.

burnout revenge is one of the funnest games ive ever played, and takes some time to clock which is good. I have completed 20% of the game and we got the console on launch night. Graw has some of the best graphics you will ever see in a game, so much detail and an extremly fun and an enjoyable game.

for anyone that has a xbox 360, ' nba 2k6 will be a must buy for anyone. That game is probally the best thing ive even seen in gaming. Looks like so much fun and the graphics are as good as any sports game ever made.

for people looking to buy the console i would give it a 8/10, but if i had a HD screen i would most liekly give it a perfect score.
