Fell Victim to a Scammer

Hey guys,


So a little bit over 8 weeks ago I struck a deal with a guy on another site (I dont think he is a member here) for a couple of high end cards I needed for a set chase.

Username on said other site is marlong00 paypal name marlon abilong

If you have any dealings with him on ebay or other sites tread with caution


The first alarm bell should have been that he asked for Western Union transfer which I flat out refused and told him I would only use Paypal (no gift) which he reluctanly agreed to.

About 6 weeks past and I still hadnt received my package (it was only coming from the Phillipines) I had been in pretty good contact with him up until that point and all of a sudden he started blaming someone else saying his "helper" posted them out and he wasnt sure what was going on.

I open a dispute immediately through Paypal.

He didnt even bother responding to any messages after that nor did he even try to dispute anything with Paypal.

Thankfuly my funds were returned to my paypal this morning.

Damn. At least you got your money back.

I had a bad feeling at the start and should have listened to my gut.

I remember back about 13 years ago, I was a good friend of my local PO as they used to be the one writing up my WU Money Order, and then also the City Exchange, where I would go there to Change to USD.....to send by post!!!!!

At least used to send registered so I know the money got there.

This was back in the days of EBay infancy, so no real scammers yet, and they were mainly US people.

For all the extra fees and sometime nuisance that is ebay/paypal, the buyer protection (which i needed to use once before as well) was a godsend for dealing with situations like this.

I'd never use any other transfer with another party (eg bank/western union), especially when going international.
