I posted in the ebay seller of the month thread the other week that this guys IP sigs were fake.

Check this card out where he has read the players name wrong so he has signed it "Horwood" instead of "Forwood" - dope. You'd think Trevor would know how to spell his own last name.

Check here where you can see the same card unsigned with the same damage in a lot he bought on ebay last month amongst other cards he has up as signed

Dont buy off this guy unless you want to be ripped off. Just giving you all a heads up.

That's gold Geoff!
I'm not into signed cards, but how do you know whats real and whats not ?
The fact that the card says Forewood and it has been signed Horwood is a clue but look at his other sigs and 2 seem similar. Anyhow I have asked a pretty innocent question about the card so we'll see what the response is before revealing that we're all watching him

Like I say, penmanship can really unravell a fake card seller. There are certain lines which will be consistant in several cards, or, just totally different to something that has the real signature on it. This guy is selling a George Peponis signed card also and the G in George is different and it has a very similar line to another card I noticed him selling.

I have asked when he got the card signed. He may slip up because the pen he has used indicates he wants his sigs to look older than they really are.

Say if someone is really good at forging signiatures, how would you know it's real or not?
You could not. However, either the card has been printed with a typo (this particular error I have never heard of) or he forged the name and misspelt it. Also it looks like he went round the "o" twice. Who does that in a sig?

Buying signatures can be a gamble, but thats the chance you take with every signature if you haven't seen the player sign an item in person. It takes along time to build trust and gain a reputation as a safe signature trader. There are quite a few members here that I have traded with for a while now and I have full trust in those members as I hope they do with me.

I just got a response and considering the card was sold 1 month ago unsigned... He just shot himself in the foot.

Dear eddief1961,

Just out of curiosity when did you get this card signed?

Cheers

I had John Moran sign some cards for me last year and this joker had one for sale a few weeks back that had a completely different signature which first alerted me. I have some mates who have been collecting IP sigs for years and I alerted them. They say that a lot that they have dont match the ones he is selling and I know these guys have chased them personally. You would think that he would wait until the cards he bought no longer showed in his feedback before he tried selling fakes

He just got served up by me. I suggest everyone gives it too him via email also. Its the only way to stop forgeries and scammers like this guy.

P.S. and please report him as I will be doing.

I had the exact same response

Dear eddief1961,

I thought it was fake.... You purchased this card in a lot of 1975 cards only a month ago and it was not signed. The marks on this card are very prominent and was one of the cards in the listings photo of cards you purchased. I also know George Peponis's signature on your other listing isn't correct either.

I will be reporting your signed listing because people like you are ruining the signed memorabillia market by selling fakes. I know alot of serious card collectors and they have already been informed about your cards.
