Afternoon all non-sport collectors, as we all know Jen is moving on to a new job that will take her out of the trading card scene for a while so I have looked at options to keep non-sport case shares going.

One of the site sponsors redtorana, has access to purchasing non-sport product through a local (Australian) distributor but there is a hitch.

That hitch is price.........let me explain, Jen was doing Big Bang season 3 & 4 boxes for $75 delivered (I would guess Jen's supplier gets a good volume discount in the states). Through an Australian distributor these boxes are going to cost $74.90 wholesale. Warren will keep his markup to a minimum, probably about 80 a box plus postage. Currently dacardworld has boxes for $109.95.

I would take over organizing the case shares for Warren (non-sport) and he is happy to get the product in for us. Warren also has access to binders from the distributor.

Soon, Warren will be launching an all new website and he hopes to include non-sport products for us collectors.

So who is interested in keeping the non-sport case shares going on OCT?

Dave

Who's the distributor? I'm asking because I ordered some Walking Dead 2 from a huge distributor in Geelong and they fell thru! It was released on the 11th of December and they only refunded me last week! Never again! Thankfully I didn't have all my chips riding on them :)

Ikon is the distributor in AU, redtorana is an authorized re-seller for the products they get in.

Sorry, count me out then. Ikon were the distributors that stuffed up my Walking Dead order which was placed thru Popculture, also an authorised re-seller.

Potentially interested in the non-comic products (and more BBT), but some of the posts above are a bit concerning. Does anyone have positive experiences of this wholesaler/distributor?

I understand that, no probs, just monitor how this one goes (assuming we go ahead) and if no probs then look at this avenue next time.

I am not so sure its the distributor (Ikon) rather the retailer in this case popculture. Look we can only have a go at this. I am just looking at options to fill a void we now have in non-sport with Jen's 2 year absence. For a lot of small business its a new experience with Ikon and we will just have to see how we go.

Again, I will talk to redtorana in the morning and he can call his assigned POC at Ikon to confirm availability, if its a go I will manage the share on his behalf.

Thanks Dave, will do! I hope you have better luck than I did with them. If boxes are selling on eBay for $120 then it's a no-brainer to order all of Ikon's stock @ $72 ;)

Popculture is in Geelong, Ikon is in Geelong. Popculture is listed on Ikon's website as a recommended re-seller, I'm sure they have very close ties.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to order cases directly thru DA? We missed the boat on this one but for future releases at $690 per case and ~ $90 shipping we'll have product much sooner, cheaper and guaranteed.

I would be interested in Walking Dead boxes IF the price is extremely good (just saw the $120 vs $72 above and if the difference was a long these lines I would absolutely be keen)

is there any reason why we cant use jen's supplier? is it coz she isnt willing to pass on who she used?

Just got back to intermittent internet access so not sure if I will be able to keep up with the discussion. Several months ago I posted a request for volunteers to take over the nonsport shares and got almost no response. I think it's somewhat unfair to be complaining about the only method suggested unless you are willing to be the organiser instead.

You need to realise that I have been taking large financial risks every time I do a case share. I have to commit months in advance and I get stuck with the excess if there's insufficient interest (I have several spares of Game of Thrones and Fringe for example) and I absorb changes in currency exchange rates. I also do a lot of work chasing and keeping track and then mailing out is a pain. I can pass on the details of my supplier but it's not reasonable to ask someone to take on the cost plus the work.

Using a more mainstream approach, such as an Australian based importer or D&A makes the process more reasonable. I don't know the importer involved, but the commitment time and currency conversion problems are much reduced. Using D&A, don't forget that the organiser needs to pay for shipping to them and also shipping to each group buyer. This means that the boxes will be more than I was charging because I was taking the role of D&A without their markup.

Thank you Jen for being helpful on this. All I did was ask a question. I've done case shares so I know what it's like, it can be organised well just takes a lot of time which at the end of the day time is money. Thank you for your response. I'd be happy to take the supplier details and touch base to find out just exactly what the costs would be etc.
