the still look terrible. i dont know, select may have got the marketing wrong on so many levels for so many years but least they knew how to design something.
that manly card would've taken 15 minutes to design possibly even more time would've been spent on the back rather than the front.
i might sound a bit arrogant / ungrateful... its not that, im just shocked that they cant put a half decent effort into designing a decent card. why should i pay big $$$ to collect something like that manly card when i could whip one up my self like this which is almost the exact same and im all self taught with no professional experience

wow those select afl cards look rubbish! I really liked alot of the deisgns that select brought out for nrl over the years...always was a fan of the top prospect designs and i really liked the 2012 dynasty predictors and base cards....whilst the gem cards we used to get looked ordinary they were nowhere near as bad as what the AFL boys are getting fed this year
Damn, those Firepower cards make Mascot Gems look sophisticated.
I can see where GIRDS is coming from, and it can be a fine line between an understated/clean style of card and plain dull, just as it can between something graphically exciting and Godawfully overdone.
There's no $$ in it, but for me the overall appeal of a set comes down to the design of the base cards and the player selection. Probably comes from being a collector pre-Dynamic, but when I think of any series I think of the base set first.
I could be wrong, but there appears to be a 'file draw' motif to the curse design of the premiership and young guns cards. I hope it's carried over to the base set with a simple name strip at the bottom of the card layered over action shots. Simpel but effective. Please no more Photoshop clearcuts, save them for inserts.
Like everyone else, keen to see these insert ratios. Little bit worried for us one-box buyers, that we may only be pulling 7 or 8 inserts for $120. Though the thrill of the chance for a high end insert (regardless how slim) is always worth a few bucks.
Found A Pic Of the display Box...... Like their choice of the premiership Card and young gun for the box.
wished that 12 cards per pack logo was not there.
