This is another thread taken from the NRL section which I thought also applies to AFL. The aim is to try and build a master list of all known error and misprint cards.

The master list will be on the second post. Please add ANY error or misprint cards you know, from any series, in this format:

Year, Series, Player name, Set, Error.

e.g. 2013 Teamcoach Nic Naitanui common (two different fronts produced)

All contributions appreciated! :)

Master List:

1989 Scanlens - Michael Mitchell and Robert Scott commons (Carlton logo)
1990 Stimorol - Scott Wynd common (incorrect name)
1991 Stimorol - Tommy Alvin (Western Bulldogs logo)
1995 Dynamic - Greg Williams Glacier card (Geelong logo)
1995 Select Series 1 - Greg Williams and Gavin Brown All-Australians ("Captain" and "Vice-captain" missing respectively)
2005 Teamcoach - Entire Star Wildcard set (no "SW")
2012 Teamcoach - Entire Star Wildcard set (no "SW")
2014 Teamcoach - Lance Franklin Magic Wildcard (white border)

Probably the most famous and talked about Error Card is the 2005 Team Coach Star Wild sets - With the SW printed on the card (common) & the NON SW version.
The story among card collectors is that a number of NON SW cards were printed early in that years production, before the ERROR was noticed. It is unknown exactly how many were packed into boxes and sent out for sale. Some people have suggested no NON SW cards were in packs sold for retail and somehow came onto the market via other means. But stories of collectors who did bust the error version, make this a very interesting and unique series of cards to collect.

The fact that it was the first ever series of Star Wild cards, with a very unique and different grey colour scheme and to top it all off the ERROR version, makes these cards extremely collectable.

One of the prize cards for the 2005 series was Lloyd - with footballs. I have put up a photo below of 3 of 4 different Llyod Star Wild cards including the two different prize versions.

Here are a few examples of unsigned DPS cards from the ever popular 2005 Dynasty & Tradition series.

Some players are known to miss signing a card by simple human error.

This is an Uncut version of the 2005 Platinum Draft Pick cards from the ever popular Dynasty series.

I have seen a Hawthorn team set from the Tradition series released earlier that year that are uncut and should have been the 'die cut' footy faces type.

Something a little from the left of field, is this 1960's North Melbourne 'WEG DRAWN IMAGE' decal. This has probably occurred with the blue print colour running out and this 'Pink' colour being the outcome.

Can someone explain the error that happened in this Scanlens Series, and an additional card was then sent out to people who purchased the set?

What about the 1995 Dynamic Greg Williams glacier card that was released with the Geelong logo. The correct Carlton logo card was sent with a hole punched error card once returned to Dynamic. One of my favs.

This year there's the Franklin magic error. The pics on the left (front and back) are the error which have the white along the edge, and the pics on the right have the red along the edge:

1989 scanlens

There are two error cards in this series. Card #114 (Michael Mitchell from Richmond) and card #100 (Robert Scott from Geelong) had the Carlton Blues logo on the front of them.

There are a total of 168 + 2 error cards in the set.

1995 Select series 1 All Australian errors x 2. Greg Williams and Gavin Brown with both captain and vice captain printed and missing. Both were in packs.
