Hi all just saying a warm hello to the forum as i only just signed up today. My name is Lisa and I hail from Karana Downs in Brisbane, am 31 years young.

My dad recently suffered a heart attack and required quintuple bypass heart surgery and during his recovery he has been going through his things and came across my old trading card collection. When I was about 9 to 14 years old my father would take me out to comic/trading card/collectable shops and introduced me to the trading card scene and also my coca cola memorabilia. As a daughter who was on the receiving end of these times I highly encourage father's to do this kind of thing with your children, it helped keep me out of trouble and kept me bonded to my dad. I think to myself how sad it must have been for him the day I stopped wanting to go and became sidetracked by friends at school and peer pressure.

I will be looking to complete some sets and do some trades in the near future as my trading card interest has been ignited again and my dad and I are recalling the times we shared building our collections.

Trying to decide which sets I will painfully let go of. It's amazing how many memories flood to the surface just from looking at books of trading cards. Reminds me of how carefree we were as kids.

Look forward to doing some trading and getting to know some of you.

Lisa.

Welcome Lisa! This is a great community, very friendly groups of collectors, I'm sure you will find lots of people to help with your collection and make friends in the process :)

Welcome to OZCT Lisa,

That was such a sad but absolutely beautiful introduction. I wish you the best of luck in chasing your sets here and its great when you can re-live those passed memories of your childhood with something as simple as memorabilia and card collecting.

I hope your father is getting better and going back through his old collections can be positively therapeutic for him.
