OK a few collectors on the basketball boards have questioned how good SGC is as a grading co. I mentioned it as the top choice at the moment for high end baseball collectors but online on forums pictures speak more than words so here are some.
First off you will notice all these cards are in auction houses. Thats where the REAL high end card hobby is. None of this eBay UD exquisite or speculation that a Jordan RC or Lebron ex RC auto patch is the pinacle of the hobby from all sports etc. They pail in comparison to old school baseball that dominates the card hobby. Basketball only makes up a fairly small market of card sales and grading. Even me a basketball guy understands that.
So after a two minute search, NOT looking for the most expensive cards of all time but mearly SOME of those on offer in the one auction house at the moment I present to you these! Also please click on the link at the bottom and notice that page after page MOST are all SGC graded. PSA has a fair bit and how BVG(BGS) doesn't make an appearance BUT SGC dominates pre war especially. More and more are being crossed over and sold on making huge profit margins on the new grades.
SGC. The choice of those with fat wallets and cream of the crop in the card world. There enough preaching for now :v:

And just a one page link to some auctions http://www.mastronet.com/index.cfm?ActionisplayContent&ContentName=Lot%20List%20Categories&Category=Leaders%20Of%20The%20Pack on offer this one day in one auction house. The mind boggles at how much high end stuff moves thru these guys every year. Its not un common for one days take to go over the $2MUS mark for just baseball cards. ONE DAYS TAKE! Chicken feed this stuff is compared to some of the other stuff like Wagners (SGC graded setting hobby records in the MILLIONS for ONE card! :v But again all I found in a 5 minute internet search at ONE auction.
Brings new meaning to high end and shows it doesn't mean (What I personally can't afford) It really means high end.
There now we have a thread for when people say "Oh is SGC any good, never heard of them so they can't be that good"
I can now point them to this thread and over time put up some more high end examples of cards. Even stuff like Jerry West RC's sgc graded that recently went for over $40,000! A record for that card!

Each card has been graded by SGC. This amazing set was discovered inside a trunk in a house that belonged to a gentleman who played minor league baseball with and was a close friend of Pirates pitcher Nick Maddox. Stored away in the basement and all-but forgotten about, the trunk was in poor condition, as were many of the items inside which had become victims of time and the elements. Luckily, the cards were carefully wrapped in paper and managed to avoid the ravages of time.
