Did anyone else watch Birmingham v Arsenal last night? Eduardo Da Silva sustained an absoluely horrific injury after being tackled by Taylor in the first few minutes of the game.

I don't think there was any malicious intent in the tackle; it was just timed extremely poorly. The poor bastard was treated on the pitch for eight minutes and will now miss Euro 08'.

yeah, just saw the vid on youtube, it was a very vicious tackle. cant really tell if it was intentional or not but it was certainly poorly timed and he came in extremely aggressively with studs raised...if he wanted to break his leg he couldnt have done it any better. its just a nasty part of football.

Thats intentional. Theres no way thats a "missed tackle". You aren't going for the ball if your boot connects that high up the shin.
Ive played long enough.

Taylor got a red.
I have had an ankle broken playing football (soccer). Nothing like this though.
Apparently his whole foot/ankle came away from the leg itself.

That guy won't ever play first grade again for any consistent time... that injury is horrendous... not something you can come back from...

that reminds me of henrik larson's broke leg about 10 years ago

Holy crap! He'd be lucky to run again after something like that. Did Arsenal win?

Ironically not. Despite being down to 10 men for 84 minutes, Birmingham took the lead... Arsenal scored twice, then Birmingham equalised with the last kick of the game from the penalty spot! A black day for Arsenal all round.
