I think we ebay users need to send out a petition or something to stop the deliberate rip off Ebay is currently doing with its global shipping program. Paying $30 postage from the USA to AUS for a single card is ridiculous. They are pricing us poor Aussie collectors out of the hobby, and there is no way it can cost anywhere near that as I have had full size NFL helmets shipped over for $35. Who's with me??
I hate ebay's scamming with a passion but I can see why they have to do it. Paypal will only cover lost mail when sent with delivery confirmation and tracking.
Imagine how many people would claim to not recieved their goods.
It sux for the customer but it is the right decision for them unfortunately.
Many major international shipping companies (that operate in a similar way to eBay's global shipping program) offer a base rate for any item up to a given size/weight. That's why a card might be $30 shipping, and the helmet is $35.
In fact, many companies worldwide operate by the same principle. East for instance, Eastbay has $40 base rate shipping. This applies to a pair of shoes, or a pair of socks. It's $40 shipping for both. Buy more stuff and the shipping goes up.
Stick to COMC. It's cheaper, and they understand that value of the cards to collectors. The global shipping program has it's uses, but it's not for cards.
The bigger ripoff is the customs fees they quote and you may have to pay on top of shipping? We don't get charged them here...
However, as the victim of absurd paypal loopholes, if I was a US seller I would never ship internationally unless it was using the program.
So paypal (owned by eBay) stiff you and make you want to use a service that eBay provides but rips off the buyers and makes eBay a lot more money... Yeah, totally innocent there........
Ebay = fee to list, fee to do anything to the listing, fee once sold and then paypal get more fees...... I wish the old sold.com.au was still around I got so many good cards from that.
