This is partly a whinge and partly my observations...
eBay is a MASSIVE company that must make so much money - without it our collections wouldn't even be near what they are today. However, I am of the belief that there are certain obligations/morals you should follow no matter how big or small you are.
It sickens me how many people scam/shill on ebay and get away with it.
Even with proof and when you report the items, they still do nothing about it.
So when you take it into your own hands (ie 100% obvious shilling, win item, leave negative feedback and report seller) - you still suffer (got the feedback removed and I got an unpaid strike). That was the first straw....
The second straw was the fiasco with the same seller as above acquiring the card I "stole" when I was the target of a scam. No matter what I did, I couldn't alert anybody to this fact because ebay doesn't care or want you to be able to contact them... I even called the postal service and tried to warn them incase the orignal owner had filed a false insurance claim - they weren't interested.
The final straw was contacting eBay. NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, the ONLY option is to call them. Which is pretty ridiculous being a big international company. You used to be able to live chat. That's gone. You used to be able to message them. You can still do that but EVERY SINGLE TIME you get the same automated response - "please call".
I am not making an international toll call every time I have an issue or want to try to stop a scammer. Not only that, you have to go through an annoying and stupid automated menu to even get to talk to someone, and most of it is irrelevant. Plus you'll have already said everything that needed to be said in your message to them...
So, seeing as I feel that they're not fulfilling their obligations or providing a proper service, I decided that I wouldn't pay the fees on the sales I last made ($115). Every time they invoiced me I replied with the same automated message they sent me 'please call'.
I started getting messages saying 'your ebay fees are now due - please pay today'. So, I replied back with the same message asking them to call me.
After a few of those I got one saying 'MC027 EBI NOTICE: eBay Registration On Hold: Non Payment' - again, I replied saying they should call me.
Today, I received 'Your eBay buying and selling privileges have been restricted: Action Required US200' - yet hilariously on the same day they sent me 'List up to 1,000 items FREE. One day only!'
I don't get it - if they insist on you calling them for even the smallest problem, why aren't they calling me to get their money..? Of course I did this deliberately to make a point, and it has worked to some extent. eBay is a pathetic company and although nobody will stop using them, I have and am never going to pay what I owe them - until they call
