Need some help with an auction Im bidding on now, has ebay changed the rules in relations to items that has a reserve that I am not aware of?
I am bidding on an MJ, starting price is 99c with a reserve & no bidders as yet. I put a bid in, which is higher than the reserve, but after the bid, I check the current status on the card, and the price is at the reserve price rather than 99c.
I dont ever remember it being like that, reserve or no reserve, the first bid is always at the starting price.
I think he's asking why his bid wasnt entered as 99c when it was the opening bid. Rather than exceeding the opening bid, and sitting at Reserve Bid Price...
Very strange, try contacting Ebay, but I wouldnt like your chances...
if you have an reserve price auction, then as soon as somebody bids at least the reserve price (so he is willing to pay the price the seller asks for), the actual bid is automatically at the reserve price.
the reserve price means the seller is not willing to sell under this price.... if nobody of the bidders reaches the reserve price, the seller must not sell at the actual bid. if your bid had been less than the reserve price, the actual bid would have been the 99c starting bid, since another bidder would make a bid on it.
as long as I use ebay.com, I remember that it was that way.
I agree, if you put a bid in that is over the reserve, that is the amount that will be shown as you are now "winning" the auction, as opposed to if you put in a bid below reserve, where it would then show the minimum bid amount until someone else puts a bid on.
