was watchin this on ebay ...and of course really wanted the card....then about 20 hours before completion I got an email off my mate in seattle saying ...

"Hey Cal I just had word that the T.J Ford card 1/1 on e-bay will be getting shilled by a 0 bidder at $300 u.s and a second chance offer going out to the 2nd highest bidder, so unless you wanna pay around 250u.s for it I'd sit it out."

Just shows how small the card community is worldwide...

Very interesting, Cal. Why the hell would (the seller) go around telling people about their questionable antics anyway? Some people are silly.

na it wasn't the seller that told me it was a mate of mine from the U.S who just HAPPENED to hear about it, and told me as he knows I collect T.J....hence the small world part.
I should have explained it better.

Nah you explained it well enough, I meant, the seller had to tell somebody initially, then your mate heard about it and passed on that info. So he is rather silly for telling someone in the first place, because word got out about the shill bid before it happened.
So what do you think it would be worth?

I didnt wanna pay more than $150 u.s but to be honest $250 u.s isn't unreasonable....you just dont see the ultimate black 1/1 subset...in fact thats the first of the rookie class of 03-04 I've seen ever.

well i guess the other side of the coin is shill bidding is just a reserve price in a way, the person risks the second place bidder changing their mind anyways... but what a dumb mofo for saying he was doing it!!
