Gonna turn this into a show off thread / discussion.

Who do you believe has been the MVP of each conference so far? Show a card you have of each if you can!

I'll tally votes in this first thread as we go!

Looking forward to @Billyhoyle using it as another excuse to show off his redemption

Votes - East
Kyle Lowry (1)
Lebron James (1)
Kemba Walker (1)
John Wall (2)

Votes - West
Anthony Davis (3)

I actually think:
West - Steph Curry flat out baller, leading the league team 27 and 5 currently. 23pts, 8 ast, 5 rebs, 2 stls averages (I know there are haters out there too!)

East - Unfortunately the week is ugly. Pure ugly. I think the leaders have to be Butler/Lowry/Wall/Bron. Personally I'd still take Bron, however plenty of negative publicity right now won't help him.

and then because I am analytical:
ranked 1st to 4th in those categories. 1 point for 1st so the lower the total the better.

and yes I know not all about stats (see Steph Curry comment), cavs record will hurt Lebron.

The east is ugly, however the Hawks are beating all the west teams!

There's a saying, something about a horse that performs at its best when there is world class competitors around. I believe this is true in Jimmy Butlers case, where Gasol, Rose, Noah etc make him look good and he in turn makes them better as well. Not a knock on him by any means, I just don't believe that he could do those numbers on a team like the Raptors (and keep them winning with a DeRozan type out).

I agree - there's also a saying the cream always rises to the top. I dunno what that means but I like cream.

That's the funny thing with the Hawks who is leading that team? Teague, Millsap, Horford - I think they are a case of being too consistent and taking votes from each other.

Agree, it's even more team basketball than the Spurs, Grizzlies, etc. At least you know the spurs Big 3 (plus Kawhi) will always carry them, and the Grizzlies go to Z-Bo when healthy. The Hawks don't have anyone that can take over a game down the stretch. So. Many. Options.

only cos i cant be bothered scanned up any newer cards to be able to adjust my votes...lol

EAST

Kemba, picked his play up of late but still a joke as i think if things keep going the way they r then Wall is a good chance.

WEST

Pretty sure this guy would be atleast in the top 3 in the tough west

Davis

Good idea for a thread:thumbsup:

For the East-

Walls ahead for me.

For the West-

I maybe just a little biased:D
but I do believe this guy deserves it. At least he should be in the conversation!! "Come on" have you seen him ballin this year or not???

East - Hawks team. 'Nuff said.

West - cannot believe no-one has mentioned this guy - LaMarcus Aldridge. Without Aldridge and just lilliard the blazers would not be the powerhouse they are.

.. and vice versa.

They got the whole team vibe going on, and a great bench.. Look out!!

Alright, another biased selection but isn't Wall a tad hard to go past...

As for the West, I really don't seem to have any genuinely quality cards (just the way I've been buying) but my West MVP because I have no Davis, Curry, Lillard etc. is

Batum,Matthews are all the glue and Rolo when hes back so basically they are all helpful with the team chemistry.

West :
Cp3 (the Clippers would be nothing without CP3 imho)

East :
Kyle Lowry with a high mention of Jwall

Just on the discussion bit, the East has no shot at an MVP this season with Lebron out and the Cavs under .500. Only chance is he goes berserk with some uber stat stuffing and bring the Cavs to about 3rd in the East. Raptors, Bulls, Hawks, Wiz don't have anyone putting up MVP like numbers.

The West is where it's at this season, in terms of MVP. Realistically, there are only two players in the race for MVP. Anthony Davis' Pelicans are just not in contention enough to make him relevant. Stephen Curry may be a bit in front but mostly due to his team success having the best record in the NBA but his stats are actually down from last year so I think from the voters point of view, that will work unfavorably for him. Although to his credit, he's doing it in fewer minutes because most of the games have been blowouts.

So that really leaves only one player. Career highs in points, assists, rebounds, steals, blocks, FT percentage while doing it in few minutes than the last couple of years. His team is third in the West and now only total two wins less than Golden State, even with a key player missing 13 games this season due to injury. The MVP of the 2014-15 Regular Season...James Harden!
