Simply don't look or search for them on eBay.

In a hectic month cards take a back seat and nothings worse than looking on eBay to see that 'one' card you have been searching for ages for pops up or bargains have come by without you jumping on :(

I've finally learnt to just stay away if I can't buy and just look at all the cards here that while are good are just not what I collect anyway

Not a rant. Just a realisation.

always happens to me. every time im out of cash, the card or cards that i need the most gets listed on ebay. i just forget about ebay for a bit, and it works to.

Chad,
I know the feeling!

What I tend to do is see who has won the cards I'm chasing after, give it a while (i.e when I have money) and then offer to buy it from them. Sometimes it works!

Cheers
Matt

Well, here I am, in the process of buying a house so what do I spend my spare time doing...looking at ebay...

First it was innocent "looking" now i've found a seller selling 12 signed Chris Snelling cards for $1 each...oh the temptation.

I think I will try staying away...but then i come here and see people with shinny new cards...its a vicious circle.

Mark.

I know what you mean mate, only I still manage to look and see what's on ebay, but not actually buy anything.

I just set my first sinpe in ummm, not sure how long, and it's not even a card!!!

The easiest way for us to eliminate this problem is kill the internet connection, which is happening as soon as i win the card i've been after for a while. We often forget about things that are absent, that's why i always agree with the saying below.

OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND.:D

exactly right chad. i don't get heaps of finances, as i'm not working in a job which pays regularly yet. but if you go onto ebay, not wanting to buy something, you simply get enthralled by what you see! stay away if you have no intention of purchasing!! otherwise you'll soon find yourself in debt.

The best thing I did was buy a Xbox 360. I've only spent $15-20 in the last 3 months on cards. Its helped me forget about Ebay and Cards alot recently

Yeah, been there, and gone cold turkey. It was just a matter of deleting all the eBay messages.

Eventually got back in, whilst looking for some back issues of comics I collect.

So what has brought this realisation on Chad ?

Scotty, teach me where the discipline comes from ... I look, I buy ... its as simple as that ... especially when your paypal account is linked to your credit card :)

Nah, it's all cool, Chadley. Just wondering if we were gonna hear the pitter patter of baby Chadley's...

;-)

I think we've all had to go through this stage, and alter our priorities in life. Like you say, collecting should be a hobby, not a part of your life.

Not a chance in hell that will happen unless you are talking about a puppy :-D Then we need to do the whole buy a 2 bedroom appartment thing and then its a can't buy cards post because of that! LOL

And you are right. Cards is a hobby and nothing more ;-)
